Chegwin/Viz documentary Posted Sat Sep 9 11:28:05 BST 2000 by Jon

Does anyone remember that back in about 89 there was a C4 'documentary' about the Viz phenomenon, that featured some bloke supposedly tracing the secret history of the mag. He interviewed the writers, as well as someone who claimed to be their headmaster, the shopowner who stocked the first copies, and Auberon Waugh and Michael Palin. But the best bit was when he asked Keith Chegwin about how he felt about having his career destroyed by Viz's mockery.

Anyone got it on video, after all these years?

I remember this Viz documentary from years ago. I have an odd suspicion that the interviewer was Chris Morris. I recall the interviewer talking to the editor Chris Donald and saying deadpan "isn't your magazine just puerile?" and then farting. Chris Donald started laughing but the interviewer remained stony throughout. Who was that interviewer? Help please!

No, it wasn't CM.

Or should that be yes, it wasn't CM.

I'm confused.
