Believe it or not... Posted Thu Sep 7 11:28:56 BST 2000 by Jon

The strand about the Sweeney quote has reminded me to tell you all to look at:

www.enyart.com/quotes/index.html

the website of the fundamentalist conservative talk show host Bob Enyart. He does actually use the line "God created Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve". Not clear if he got it from Alan Partridge or vice versa.

If you search the web, there is a "Stop Bob Enyart" site that reveals he was once jailed for beating one of his step-children so badly the child was scarred. Not a nice man.

I'm having a look at it just now...

My favourite quote so far is:

"Homosexuals reproduce by molesting boys and younger men. That's the way homosexuals make new homosexuals."

obviously the words of an educated man...

That man is truly insane! "An armed society is a polite society", dear oh dear! He seemed to think that saying "gay= Got Aids Yet" was highly original as well. Just beyond a joke.

I would find it amusing that a man can be quite this mad, if it wasn't so highly disturbing.
Clearly the rantings of a crazed lunatic.

Yes, but the men wearing earings section is very well-reasoned:

"I think that men wearing earrings are okay as long as the earrings match their purses and dresses"

Right...

PJ, you missed the best bit:

"Men should not try to look like women and women should not look like men. Those culture boundaries, when crossed, are really gross."

Obviously, he's not a deranged lunatic. Look at this paragraph, which makes perfect sense:

"A lot of people act like the NAZIs landed in a spaceship. They came down and did all these terrible thing and then went back up. Guess what? The millions who died It took tens of thousands of German people, in the army, hundreds of thousands, the aggressors, doing horrible things, and the nation millions of people. "

Frighteningly incoherant or what. Problem is - there's a lot of websites like this out there. Too many.

So what he's saying is that all Germans are evil Nazis. Am I right?

Nowt wrong with that. Simply reflecting what everybody over the age of 60 seems to think in this country...

GAY stands for 'Got AIDS Yet'

I could point out that AIDS itself is an acronym, and that means that bob thinks another word for homosexual is 'gaidsy'

I could also point out that the majority of people who have Aids are African infants to whom sexual politics is the last concern.

Is this real, or have the Corpses made their biggest hoax?

I found it out via a different site, and there really is an anti-Enyart site (campaign, actually). So it is all real.

The campaign is to have his TV show closed, or lose its tax-emempt status, or something. I sent them a supportive mail.

Simon, perhaps we should both mail Bob himself, pointing out the errors in the ontological argument, and Kant's further criticism of the notion of rational theology, which Bob seems quite convinced of (see site, I forget which line).

His comment on Muhammed deserves some wider attention. Not fame, rather notoriety.

His ontological argument is the most hilariously simple version of it I've seen for many a while!

The man is a complete idiot. His hatred for librarians is a veiled argument for book-burning. I was quite pleased that I disagreed with almost everything he said.
I say "almost" because, as a statement "Do people smoke marijuana NOT to get high? NO. Therefore, the function of pot, crack, cocaine, whatever is to lose control of your faculties. " holds fairly true.

I found the Stop Bob site, and the link to hatewatch.org. This I also found disturbing.

You mean you found hatewatch disturbing, or the stuff it deals with?

There's also a site called Infidels (I can't remember the exact address) which is an atheist site, and it monitors born-again guff now and again.

His line about Nazism (it seems to me) is trying to make the point that the movement was not simply willed into existence by Hitler, but that it survived because people will willing to co-operate or at least turn a blind eye top what was going on. Which is true, but I would have thought it was pretty much a mainstream opinion nowadays. Daniel Goldhagen's book "Hitler's Willing Executioners" was a bestseller a few years back. So I don't know why Bob thinks he's a voice in the wilderness on that one. Unless he doesn't take much interest in what other people say about things, that could be it.

I would like to hear his views on Stickleback fish. A breed of fish found to be mostly homosexual.

I'd like to hear his views on Bonobo chimps (a species actually evolved towards lesbianism) and polar bears.

He's right though, poofs are just icky!
