Hmmm... I can get NotBBC to work, and the Lee and Herring site...
Hmmmmm. I haven't been able to get notbbc to work for the last two days - I've been creeping in through the back door at mudhole.spodnet etc.
Fingers crossed this forum doesn't shut down - then i'd have to go out and get myself a life.
Still, i'm sure everything will be back to normal soon...
Perhaps the Corpses have shut the site in a fit of rage, leaving us the forum to drivel away in?
It's a possibility.
>Perhaps the Corpses have shut the site in a fit of rage, leaving us the forum to drivel away in?
>
>It's a possibility.
Should be noted that the Corpses entry into this page is missing, as is most of the content. We have survived!
Yay!
If that *is* it for SOTCAA, on the plus side, my phone bills will be thankfully lower. On the minus side.....how long have you got?
SOTCAA - one of the best websites I've ever seen, and undoubtedly the best comedy one. The material contained on it was too good to disappear into thin air.
Mike, Joe - if there is any news on the death of SOTCAA, you'll let us know?
(The one and only time I'll consciously paraphrase Chris Morris.)
Or could this, as noted above, be more sinister?
Look how the logo has reverted to the old pre-SOTCAA one.
And no, that's not an invitation to the evil clown to make more postings.
I expect the Ident mob will seize control of the forum in the disorder.
In that case, clown come back!
>I expect the Ident mob will seize control of the forum in the disorder.
Only taking back what is rightfully theirs.
Up the revolution! ;)
We cannot permit you, for it is against nature to discuss idents to the intensity that you freakishly maintain, we must stand out for order in the face of chaos...
Then we shall go underground, and subvert you from within. We've already overthrown the evil barons at freenetname, it is only a matter of time before we flush out your crazed tyranny once and for all...
Gah! This is just the beginning of the great war between us.
Ah yes, you'd better believe it. The great war between you, as that is what it'll be when we split the you lot up. We're already there, just biding our time. You'd better keep looking over your shoulder, someone might just be there with a huge Granada spiky G ready to insert it into orifices you'll wish you never had...
I will survive, I will fight on.
Thinking about it, being a fellow red-name, you'd probably quite enjoy it...
No, whenever I see people discussing the Tyne Tees logo or Granada continuity links from the 1970s, I feel sick to my stomach.
I'm quite in favour of this closedown.
Think of the ident chats we could have about the way different stations ended their evening's programmes, in the good old days when telly ended and we could all go to bed.
I have fond memories of HTV's. Border's was very dull, though.
That's a bit strong isn't it Jon? Surely you just get annoyed? Being sick to the stomach is saved for more important things, that happen in the real world.
What I was suggesting was after the trauma you obviously went through to get a red name, having large pointed objects stuffed up your bottom would be a pleasurable experience.
Anyway, lighten up. It's getting far too stuffy in here...
But if the rest of Rob's stuff shuts down, then surely this site can't stay? Can it?
Ah, that's part of the grand master plan.... ;)
http://www.mudhole.spodnet.uk.com/~frogger/notbbc/
Dead. Mwahahahahahahahah!!!
Yeah, OK, I do just get annoyed. But idents happen in the real world too, remember.
So, er, does that link somehow confirm that SOTCA isn't coming back? I don't understand.
>So, er, does that link somehow confirm that SOTCA isn't coming back? I don't understand.
Pretty much. It's no longer on the server if it's not in the directory.
Don't panic. It's probably just a server crash or something. If NotBBC had died, Rob would have said something.
It is a bit concerning though that the NotBBC legend (I avoid the use of the word logo deliberately) has disappeared from the top frame. Wosgoinon, Rob?
If it's a crash, it's been going on for a couple of days now.
Also, trouble with SOTCAA usually also affects the L&H site, which has been running OK this week.
Just strange that Rob S. hasn't replied to all the questions about what's going on...
Just noticed that the TV Forum picture when you first go in has reverted back to the pre-SOTCAA one. Oh dear, maybe it has gone after all... looks like Rob has done a bunk...
Don't worry Ailie, I'll still love you, even if the forum goes...
Professional opinion of likelihood: it was taken offline for an update, and is proving difficult to reupload. This happened to my site and Faze Online a couple of weeks back.
The chances of Yoakum Ono having a hand in it, or The Corpses just having given up are remote, I'd say.
>Just noticed that the TV Forum picture when you first go in has reverted back to the pre-SOTCAA one.
Well, at least evil clown's still about then.
I feel frightened and lonely.
OK, Lord Of The Flies time...
Let's make a list of who isn't around
Well I feel all warm and contented, cos the old forum I lurked in for 3 and a half years is back!!
But they did once say that if they wanted to go into comedy writing they'd close down SOTCAA and do a different site.
Maybe they've accepted a massive offer to script edit the 11OCS. Sell-outs.
Where's everybody gone...?
Cardinal Fang? CARDINAL FANG!
>Don't worry Ailie, I'll still love you, even if the forum goes...
TJ, you're so sweet.
I hope the forum stays forver... I like it here.
The forum's great, and so are you Ailie(!), but I'd quite like the site back too...
If the site was offline for updating, surely it would say "Back soon" not "Gone for good".
Why is the whole of NotBBC down but not this forum?
Hey, I've just noticed that the top frame has been resized...
It has. The top frame where the banner was, which has been empty all day, has now been re-sized so that it's only about one pixel high...
Rob must be out there. Somewhere...
<confused>
I fear the end is nigh.
http://www.mudhole.spodnet.uk.com/~frogger/notbbc/
now says "sorry this site is closed"...
well, if this is goodbye.
"goodbye".
SOTCAA is gone! All that great stuff deleted. What a pity, as Homer Simpson would say
One word: tarantula
I'm shocked. And stunned. Shocked and stunned. I only found this effing site a couple of weeks ago and now it's been taken away from me. And yet here we are. Alone in a SOTCAA-less void. It's like a bloody Sartre play. Just us here. No corpses to keep us company.
Don't panic. Let's all be British about this. If we all stick togteher someone's bound to come and find us, right? Right?
Hold me.
I'd plug my zine here, only it feels a bit like graverobbing to be doing so.
So I won't unless I get the nod from Rob S.
I have respect for the site and the people behind it, so I want to think before I do anything that might piss them off...
The title has just been changed from 'NotBBC TV Forum' to, simply, 'The TV Forum'. Just like the olden days.
Maybe someone confused NotBBC with MP3.com, and closed the wrong site down. Possibly.
Hey, how come this hasn't made the news.
>Hey, how come this hasn't made the news.
Because the BBC control the news??? Conspirathon.
I'm going to sound like something out of bloody Star Trek now, but...
...some things are bigger than they seem. All of the regular visitors to SOTCAA were and are(I assume) united by a common belief in what the site stands/stood for, and if that's so, then this common ground is too precious to throw away on the basis of someone with too much time, money and legal knowhow on their hands trying to silence like-minded people. Which is why I'm suggesting that we should all stay in contact - myself, Mr G, Peter O'H, Ailie, Bent Halo, Jon, Justin, Jason, John!, Suiii, Kinder Surprise, Subbes, PJ, Sam D, Arma, The Corpses, Rob, Simon Harries(the tape's on its way, by the way!), Steve Berry, Mogwai,Ewar Woowar, Simon Adebsi - hell, even gas bottle and the clown if they're up for it. Let's do something positive with this situation.
I'm still here - being feverish, I'm not in a fit state to be in the office.
(coughs)
Anyone remember Duck Patrol?

well, my e-mail's [email protected] if my server ever works.
i'm very very scared about this closure. someone... please, what's going on?
You can reach me via [email protected]
Ailie, can we still have that piss-up at your place in Eastbourne?
>Ailie, can we still have that piss-up at your place in Eastbourne?
Absolutely!
We need the alcohol now, more than ever!
Just had a look on the Douglas Adams site, after reading the thread about SOTCAA being slagged off by people on there. Apparently one of the reasons SOTCAA was closed was everyone was more interested in meeting up for a pint, than taking part in direct action. Unbelievable. Okay, a few people meeting to share a few drinks, chat and tell a few jokes isn't going to magically create a new "Hancock's Half Hour", but there are possibilities of collisions of ideas.
I never signed up to be in a terrorist cell.
>i'm very very scared about this closure. someone... please, what's going on?
Pass. I wish I knew.
Please do not forget that it is not just SOTCAA that has gone but the whole of Rob's website with the exception of this forum.
I think that the fact that this forum still exists suggests that the forum will survive - for now at least.
For those suggesting its just like the old days, well saddly its not - like I said, everything from Rob's site has gone.
If there are any hosting problems, I may be able to put the forum on my site - however this place no doubt is very big on the old hard drive space. All we can do is wait for a message from Rob.
>All we can do is wait for a message from Rob.
Which for those who haven't seen it, is on the 'The End?' thread.
did rob not say something about the site being on janet when it's not supposed to be or something?
or is it not?
maybe it's being moved elsewhere.
I would have thought he'd tell people though....
I blame the aliens.
Hmmm... I've been wondering about that as well. It *was* on janet (ehche.ac.uk if I remember correctly) a *very* long time ago (1996), but I don't think it is now. I'm not sure why that message is still there -- perhaps just to stop people swearing...
