Kenny Everett Video Show - Wiped? Damaged? Posted Wed Sep 6 22:16:42 BST 2000 by Saberhagen

I read on the Paramount Comedy Teletext Mailbox that they're not showing the the Kenny Everett Video Show as "it no longer exists in a broadcastable state". Can anyone fill in the details? Have the tapes for this show really been damaged or wiped?

Sounds unlikely, as Thames never wiped anything beyond their initial couple of years broadcasting (about 1969 to 1972), and this is probably just a case of chinese whispers that have got out of hand. Like the "ITV Goodies Wiped" rumour.

Plus I've seen clips used in recent years that were definitely of a broadcastable state.

Maybe they mean it hasn't been converted to digital format or something, and thus isn't in a broadcastable state for THEIR equipment.

Anyone?

Where can I find archive listings for various TV shows, eg TOTP, Magpie etc?

Difficult - there aren't many real resources knocking around, and to be honest you're best off asking around and seeing who knows what. Especially with something like TOTP. Haven't I discuess the existing editions on the forum before? Someone please remind me...

As for Magpie, most of the later ones exist but the earlier examples - like most of Thames very early output - are long since gone...

>Yes, you did TJ - to me ! We talked about TOTP archives and I couldn't believe how few existed from the early 70's...
Any idea if say, you wrote to BBC at Windmill Road whether they would let you have an archive printout of a certain programme/series ?? I did write once to Adam Lee asking for Dr Who info, which he did kindly send back - there again, all that is very common knowledge I guess.
