The following was reported in today's Birmingham Evening Mail :
Midland radio & TV personality Stuart Linnell has lost his BBC job.
Linnell, who has presented the BBC Radio Coventry & Warwickshire breakfast show since September 1998, discovered yesterday that his contract would not be renewed.
He was called in by bosses after his show on Friday morning, & told Annie Othen would be presenting the show on Monday.
Birmingham born Linnell was a pioneer of commercial radio in the Midlands, & won awards while he was the presenter of BBC WM's breakfast show.
A BBC spokesman confirmed Linnell would no longer be involved in radio & television for the corparation.
Roy Roberts, head of regional & local programmes for BBC West Midlands, said Stuart has a number of interests outside the BBC, & we wish him well.
Before moving to Coventry, Stuart won silver & gold Sony awards for WM's breakfast show.
He said ' The world of broadcasting is changing so rapidly, with a number of exciting developments imminent in the Midlands, which I will now seek to explore'
Additional information so far is that veteran broadcaster Tony Butler is doing Saturdays 6pm till 7pm for the next couple of weeks.
What's the betting Linnell's involved somewhere with one of the groups bidding for the next West Midlands radio lience!!
