I'll join you. Pubic flogging good enough?
Often, Joe has a lot of very relevant points to make.
And if you don't like them, no-one's forcing you to agree.
More frequent visits would be more useful, surely? As opposed to just sending contributions to lots of threads at the same time, either postively or negatively, and then not replying for ages?
Oh, come on. What you're suggesting is ludicrous. This is SOTCAA. Joe is one of SOTCAA. He has more right to post here than even we do.
Right to post? That's an interesting thought. Do some people have greater posting rights than others? Perhaps Rob S rates 10, justin 8, and Dan L. 1
So where would the people who aren't intereasted in comedy rate on this scale then? The ones who talk about the idents?
Minus infinity.
(this is also what i imagine dan l might say about my forum rights, after that last posting).
Everyone has an equal right to post messages on this forum, whether you agree with them or not, and regardles of whether their favourite topic is itv indents or the latest comedy act.
Even I havre a right to post, when you come down to it.
But talking about one of the founders of this site as if he has no reason to even express an opinion is just.... idiotic stirring.
Hhaaaaaaa - all this rubbish about a 'limp state' of comedy, and all along all we needed to do was look at this site.
Good comedy is like anything else, you just have to know where to look for it.
>All who think joe4sotcaa should calm down and /or go away, sign here please.
>Or is it just me who finds his comments repetitive?
Is is just me who think this person has managed to miss the point of everything?
You might not agree with everything he says (although I suspect he has just taken the piss out of you, you've missed some obvious sarcasm, or something) but telling one of the authors of this site to go away is utterly stupid. Fuck off. No, go on, fuck off.
's what i wanted to say.
>Is is just me who think this person has >managed to miss the point of everything?
No, that's you. And subbes.
What a nasty mouth you have.
>>Is is just me who think this person has >managed to miss the point of everything?

Sorry, I totally agree with the other anon and subbes. Looks like some people have forgotten why everyone comes here, probably an attempt to gain back some self-importance after the corpses have knocked their world.
Mmmmm...challenging stuff here.
Perhaps the detractors of this site (some of whom seem to have been coming here for quite some time) should take a look round it once more to remind themselves at the wealth of information on offer here. Whether or not you agree with Joe or Mike (and often, I don't), the fact of the matter is that they took a couple of years putting this extraordinary site together. I think they are entitled to post their opinions on here - particularly considering anyone else can.
Nice red name you've got there Justin - it kind of suits you.
>Nice red name you've got there Justin - it kind of suits you.
*blushes*
I didn't do it to stand out, I promise!
Justin - i'm not saying the site isn't good, just that this whole 'direct-action' thing that everyone keeps going on about seems to me just a phrase to make people feel self-important. Using a comedy analogy - like Rik was an 'anarchist' in the young ones.
Maybe i'm 'missing the point', but then not everyone can always see the point [if that makes sense - i assure you i does to me].
Surely this site is about critisism.
Reacting childishly ("fuck off then") when some of the things said on the site (regardless of who said them, creators or not) are critisised seems to me to remove much of the point of the whole process.
I would end this message with bathos to lighten the mood, but then again everytime someone does that on this forum it undermines to often important point that was made.
On re-evaluation, forget the last paragraph of the above comment.
Joe - I absolutely agree that telling people to fuck off from a forum is not on, but I think that a lot of the people who have come on in the past just to hurl abuse at the site founders and forum contributors for sadness/earnestness/single status/inability to see the good points of [insert name](usually the latter) have just got annoyed because Joe, Mike or one of us have said something they didn't agree with. This site is about having the guts to have your own opinions and not to be seduced into the thoughts of the media just because it's fashionable or just 'because everyone else does'.
This is terribly important for this reason: name a comedy show that changed your life. Now name one that you would happily watch over and over for the rest of your days (if trapped somewhere). Name a show that could often make you laugh till you cried. Thought of one? Chances are, it either didn't get recommissioned, or if it did, only by the skin of its teeth. Its ratings at the beginning were negligible, and reviews either non-existent or damning.
I'm not just talking about Absolutely here. Or On The Hour, or Python, or Fist Of Fun. I'm talking about Fawlty Towers, Fools & Horses, Blackadder, Cheers, Seinfeld, and just about every good/great comedy show you can think of (apart from The Simpsons and Frasier, both spin-offs anyway, and One Foot In The Grave, which I don't have a reason for, other than the fact it was bloody marvellous).
These days, of course, we're being told a new show is fantastic before it even hits the screen. Indeed, in the case of League Of Gentlemen (a programme I have no strong opinion about one way or the other, except for the fact it's undoubtedly overrated), it is considered very bad form to not adore it.
In short, this site is here (apologies if this wasn't your intention, Corpses) to provide an alternative view of the comedy industry and the wider TV scene. Most of the detractors on this site are (probably) looking for fansites or things that aren't going to tax the matter too much. But they can't say the Corpses didn't warn them - it's there on the front page: "Do you love comedy? No, do you really love comedy?" I don't think it's them being elitist, it's them being frank about the fact that casual comedy fans (who aren't interested in editing, transmission dates or the inner politics of TV) are not going to be terribly enthusiastic about SOTCAA.
Which is, ultimately, fair enough.
Indeed, fair enough then.
