>This may be an old topic but what is your worst logo which is currently around. I personally think either Carlton or Border TV as they are just plain words

Ah yes, but do you remember the old animated Carlton ident, where it morphed from saying LONDON to saying CARLTON? That's why the T is in superscript and nestling in the chairy bit of the L. Aha! Do you see what they've done there? Of course, such cleverness is meaningless in the former Central and Westcountry regions...
Worst TV logo? The 1993 rebranding of Ulster as UTV, with the accompanying logo looking like that of a shite 80s synth pop outfit.

Some candidates:
The Anglia TV triangle (yuk!)
Channel 4's circles, now happily defunct
BBc 2's neon lettering, if anyone remembers that, closely followed by its white-on-white T W O logo
The original UK Gold logo, which was blue and white (there's logic for you!)
>The original UK Gold logo, which was blue and white (there's logic for you!)
I don't think i've ever seen that. Is there a picture of it anywhere on the web?
Definetely the C4 circles.

Good question. You could try all the usual TV presentation nostalgia sites, I guess. The logo was always accompanied by a cartoon dog (a GOLDEN retriever, get it?) but I just thought it was incredibly stupid that the logo itself didn't have any gold in it.
This was also the period when UK Gold was hacking BBC shows to bits to make room for commercials, so I wasn't a fan.

ARE YOU REALLY THAT THICK TO BELIEVE THIS?
The T is superscript as the LT stands for London Televsion nothing to do with fitting in with the morph from london to carlton!!!
Pillock
I have seen the old UK<GOLD logo - it was used at the 1993 multichannel launch of Sky- but after that was replaced by the block of gold....
I have a pic of it somewhere

The very first Carlton idents and break bumpers used the morph from Carlton to London, like this
CARLON (imagine the T in the L)
LONDON
Hermann needs help. Literally. But he also needs help deciding how much cyan is in the Scotland TV logo.

Help the poor b'as't'ar'd out. Dooooh! I mean b'd <-- BBC (nighttime telly) standards

Yes. Are you really thick enough to get angry over something as piffling as this?

Are you so thick that you can't construct a coherent sentence? Try again in English.

Bumspanner.

Ta. I knew I wasn't dreaming this up.
I thought it was a nightmare too, until Jan 1 1993...

Well, Carlton wanted to buy Thames in about 1986, so just imagine how bad it would have been watching them peddle their shit under a once great name. Er, like Pearson are now doing.
IT DOESN`T REALLY MATTER WHAT THE CARLTON IDENT DOES ITS STILL UTTER SHITE
The blue box on STV and Grampian, oops sorry I mean scottishtv and grampiantv. What is it? What relevence does it have to Scotland?
>The blue box on STV and Grampian, oops sorry I mean scottishtv and grampiantv. What is it? What relevence does it have to Scotland?
I actually quite like the Scottish and Grampian logos (STV hasn't been called STV for years).
The idents that feature them in particular are well made.
As the for the UTV logo - well I did prefer the old Ulster Television logo, but the change to UTV was a commercial one - they wanted to appeal more to viewers over the border who might have been put off by the name 'Ulster Television'. It seems to have paid off as their viewing figures there have increased in recent years.
The St Andrews cross Grampian ident was a classic and is missed

The 2nd UK Gold logo was the first one recoloured to replace the white with gold. The dog was gone though (though sadly not the DOG)...
The UK Gold bar which followed it was dreadful - terrible idea for creating a brand image.
I just bought a brilliant DVD box set of The Prisoner featuring superb digitally remastered sound and picture quality, nice extras and terrific packaging. I hear the people responsible are also behind the remastered Thunderbirds now on BBC2.
And who are the people behind this quality product?
Hmm. That's funny. It says CARLTON on the box..............................
Border has dropped its logo on the ident, now with just the hearts etc and italicised Border. Yet it maintains the old logo on Teletext page 600 and the website.
If they're gonna get rid of it, get rid of it.
But really, just bring it back, or get a proper one.
Border should bring back its `B` and quickly. Despite what some people say about Border I thought its last set of idents were pretty good
