'Sniffing at his friends and the chestnut trees,
And chasing cats 'til after dark...'
"My guests were not at all impressed...
And they left when my dog got drunk."
This is just pitiful - you're still all ignoring the out of the trees issue, and here you are wasting vital space by quoting bloody song lyrics.
I'll tell you what - you'll all be laughing on the other side of your faces when some copyright-crazed killjoy takes your bloody 1989 Grampian Idents away...
I think it's wierd that Jim Yoakum can sell us a book of unrealised scripts to us for £16 but we can't see a completed project for free. Or something...
It's not weird at all. He wants the money, and that's that.
Nev, etc, carry on with your Thackrays. It is a delight. With a bit of luck it'll take your mind off The 11 O'Clock Show. Then we can all be happy.
'Now we're agreed that we're in love we'll have to face the la-di-da...'
Anybody got any of his original LPs? CD seems to have pretty much ignored him, save for a compilation. A video copy of Jake singing 'On Again' on Innes Book Of Records will be winging its way to the first of you who can supply us with a bag-o-original Thacks.
I'm afraid that compilation CD seems to be the only one - there's an unofficial site up for him, believe it or not, which confirms that all the original albums are long deleted and incredibly hard to get hold of. And one of these days, I must blag him on the Beryl Reid show in 1968 out of the National Film Archive, he definitely did "Ulysses" and the one about the statues on that. "We were drunk as penguins but we saw him clear as day...."
