Rhona Posted Fri Aug 25 13:57:26 BST 2000 by Anonymous

Has anyone seen that new series - Rhona? I think it's extremely cool. The latest episode was the funniest. I liked Ellen as well, but then whoever is behind the television schedules decided to put it on at three o clock in the morining.

I'm a fan of lesbian comedy too anonymous. I love it.

Isn't it great! I think Ellen's great because it handles lesbian issues, but Rhona's really good, because it doesn't dwell on the fact that Rhona's gay, it's just accepted by everyone, and that's really revolutionary!

Cool. Did you see the Rocky Horror Picture show on Saturday? Brill or what?! My sister hates it but I love it.

The Rocky Horror show is amazing (but better performed on stage) and I don't care what anyone thinks!

Me too, but closely followed by touch-a-touch-a-touch-me.

One of my greatest ambitions is to play Janet in the Stage show.

I don't think I'm a good enough singer to ever be part of the Rocky Horror Show, but I did once play the mad dentist in the little shop of horrors for a school production. If I could sing though I'd love to play Magenta!!

My singing is hardly perfect, but I've heard worse and I can *do* the Janet voice brilliantly!

Ah, flattery!
I'm joining a band soon, so time will tell whether I'm any good or not!

Getting back to Rhona...

I think it's great in the way it deals with being in a lesbian in a really normal way ie. it's not "oh look she's a lesbian, that's special because..."

However, it has only made me laugh a couple of times and as a sitcom it's failed. At least it has for me.

Any thoughts?

I think you're right in the sense that it deals with gay issues really well - it's just accepted that Rhona's gay. I think it does have some very surreal and inspired plotlines. I think the series is getting better as it progresses.

I'll let you know if and when it happens!

And I feel that I should also add that I don't sing like Janet unless I am *trying* to sing like Janet!

I understand! Can you impersonate any of the other characters? I can almost do Frank N Furter on a good day, but I usually sound more like Fry or Laurie!

No. Sadly my gift is for Janet's voice alone.
Wish I could do Frank... That was Tim Curry's finest hour.

I will second that. I will third it as well if you wish!! I wish I could do Janet. I think I will watch Thelma and Louise tonight!
