Will Carlton go for Scottish Media Group?

Well?
SMG reported a good set of financial figures this week. When asked by the press if they'd let Carlton buy them - their reply was only if *it was a knock-out bid*. However, I suspect that the question was raised only to increase specualtion by the press - there is no hard evidence to support any approach by Carlton (- they are probaly too busy concentrating on getting HTV -) Or will Carlton go for SMG at some later date?
Discuss.

Those politicians up in Edinburgh might have something to say about it - they will surely want SMG to remain Scottish. Can you imagine the following?:
"This is Carlton, Television for Scotland"
Even if they don't rebrand it, it wouldn't be popular.

Popular? Since when has popularity bothered Carlton?
SMG will be bought. Only a matter of time. HTV in Wales is being knocked from pillar to post. It will happen to Scottish as well.

Are you sure? No ITV Company has bothered about any other ITV companies which aren't based in England or Wales.
And I quite like the look of SMG's idents. I'd hate to see them go.
