That reads like quite a cynical message now. I think she was/is great. Just thought I'd get that cleared up.
I believe she is currently appearing in Time Gentlemen Please. And she is fantastic. (In it and as a person)
You've been standing very near to a grapevine, Rich. Thanks for that - I think she is one of the most underrated people in comedy. Almost no-one ever talks about her On The Hour/Day Today/KMKY performances/characters. She was even funny when she was one of Noel's House Party Gotcha Squad (although I only saw a few, notably the obsessive Eddie Large fan, on which she was brilliant). Great singing voice, too.
Just noticed she does one of the voices in Stressed Eric, which is back for a new series next week, but which I never saw last time round. Did I miss anything?
Who's RF playing in TGP, Rich? Is she a regular character, or just in one episode?
She was also in Radio 4's shockingly underrated "The Sunday Format"
I think Justin is correct in his praise of a fine comedy performer!
I don't think anyone else in the On The Hour cast (OK, apart from Morris) so accurately nailed down that authoritative news-y voice (Rosie May, Barbara Wintergreen, Valerie Sinatra). Many actors/performers/idiots since OTH have tried to copy it, but none have equalled her achievement. Thanks also, TJ, for reminding me of The Sunday Format, which had a brilliant pilot ("Ten Lottery Numbers -11, 28, 7, 41...") and a lesser but still very listenable series.
That People Like Us episode about solicitors was great too. (And she's been in tons of R4 stuff. So she's been there all along, come to think of it.)
She's in nearly all the episodes playing Muzz Jackson, the graduate trainee from the brewery who has recently replaced Tony Harris and who has "never pulled a pint in her life".
She is shockingly good at it too. (even for her, it's amazing) It's a hard part - trying to be matey, all her references wrong, all her attempts at humour are bad and fall flat. As with all the cast we are incredibly fortunate to have her. Hope you enjoy her performance as much as I have been!
If anyone can play that sort of part, RF can!
Thanks, Rich.
>She was also in Radio 4's shockingly underrated "The Sunday Format"
I second that. I'm sick to death of people dismissing John Morton as a Morris rip-off artist.
Rebecca Front is certainly very cute.
aaaagggh! someone said it!
s'true, though.
Well she is. Let's face it.
She's got sex appeal that just transcends all age barriers and genders.
I thought she was wonderful in In The Red.
(When's the BBC going to repeat that?!)
So was Sally Phillips.
Does anyone have the first Bobo Girls series on tape? I always ask...
She's an incredible songwriter, and it remains her most under-valued talent.
'My nirvana is a grand pian-ah...'
My kind of Eden is a guy with breedin'.......
My valhalla is a fella who can shine...
>So was Sally Phillips.
Oh yes! :)
Damn! I really must see In The Red again! It was shown on TV here (ie Holland) a few months ago, but trust me to have missed it almost completely! Who else was in it apart from Rebecca Front, Sally Phillips and The League of Gentlemen?
It had an all-star cast. Warren Clarke played a BBC crime reporter (they wanted David Jason, but he didn't want to do it), and there was also Rik Mayall, Stephen Fry, John Bird, John Sessions, and some other well-known people who I've forgotten.
Kevin Eldon was in it too!! I just remembered! He was some sort of porn king or something wasn't he? Has anyone read the Mark Tavener books? Are they any good?

Here, here!
They should release it on video too - it was brilliant!
