Everyone could come down to Eastbourne (where I live during term time) for a beach barbie and much drinking...
Just a thought. Eastbourne is pretty naff, but it's an idea nevertheless.
Personally, I'd prefer a London meeting - how far away is Eastbourne from 'the smoke'?
hour and a half from Victoria.
Get a crate of shandy in for me.
*gasps*
I KNEW IT!!!!
Damn, I fell into her trap!
If anyone's in Edinburgh, 9.30pm tonight, Scruffy Murphy's, George IV bridge.
Jon, relax. Have a pina colada.
Manchester's fine for me.
Are The Corpses invited too?
Whyever not?
[Sips drink] Hey, this stuff is great...
*getting excited*
Here - have this bottle of Castaway.
[Mood changes] Oh Ailie, you have such beautiful eyes...
Here - have this cup of coffee, sober up and KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!
Lech.
*sulks*
Heh heh - now you're stuck with all that shandy...
No. I'm pouring it down the sink, causing you mental torment as you watch your beloved favourite drink drain away.
I'm reputed to have beautiful eyes... can't see it myself.
It's still yours though.
Oh you guys... I know - let's have the meeting *right here*!
<cracks open can of shandy>
Wahey!
Oh Al, you bon viveur you....
Err... I don't drink...
*hard stare*
No. It's drained away now and that's what you get for that kind of behaviour.
Mmmmmmmmm... Ailie's getting strict... oh yesssssssssssssssssss...
>Err... I don't drink...
What?
Not even shandy?
It's just lemonade with a little bit of shite thrown in.
Jon loves it.
I used to drink for England. Now I drink for the lost continent of Atlantis.
Hey, everyone come down to Liverpool!
>Mmmmmmmmm... Ailie's getting strict... oh yesssssssssssssssssss...
Down boy.
down boy down boy looking at you boy down boy down boy lager lager lager shouting lager lager lager
Is that a further expression of strictness???
shouting shandy shandy shandy shandy
Yes it was.
:0)
Ooooooh Ailie, you make me go all funny...
And that's not funny in a comedy sense, before anyone tries to edit-spot me or anything...
lol
This place has been fun today :0)
That it has!
Ailie, did you check out the site in detail?
How do you mean?
What have I missed?
No, MY site!
Oh, you needed to be more specific! :0)
I did read a lot of it, but I haven't read it all, as I'm at work (cue laughter) and so can't concentrate for the phone ringing, people pissing me off, etc...
I'll try to read a bit more of it tonight when I go home.
I really do spend far too much time on-line.
I look forward to your opinions on it!
It's like being asked to do a book review!
Don't expect anything too constructive from me... In fact, I am on the verge of death right now, so I may not even make it to tomorrow.
Meeting sounds top-notch to me!
Especially Manchester based! Not that I'm averse to a bit o' travelling!
Wouldn't be able to make it for a month or so.. swamped at work! (cue even more laughter).
No, really!
It's OK Ailie, I don't expect you to post them on here... mail them to me instead!
>Yeah, it's just me writing this, but Justin and Al have agreed to it.
>
>Would any other SOTCAA forum writers like to meet up together some time? Us 3 live near/in London, but we wouldn't mind spending a Saturday somewhere else, though I suppose Manchester is about as far as I'd go, dunno about the others.
>
>
Great idea! :o) I live about 40 min from Kings X, so London is no problem, Eastbourne sounds good...let me know who's coming, where it's at, and I'll bring some beers...
So who fancies this and where is it going to be and when?
So far we have suggestions of:
* A barbecue/piss-up on the beach/my place in Eastbourne
* Some form of meeting in London
* Some form of meeting in Manchester
Obviously Eastbourne would suit me best... London is no problem for me, although Manchester might be a bit far.
Best time for me would be the beginning of October...
What does everyone else think?
Would it be somewhere where there was decent Mild available?
Dunno about that, but there will definitely be shandy.
Why don't we all quit work/college to form the SOTCAA Roadshow, travelling around the country, talking about old TV shows?
Or why don't we meet at ULU in London, which is really great?
Will there be cake?
Regarding the Standup Night thing, I'm still working on it. I've just secured a new contract so the finances are all sorted out, but I'm a bit pressed for time. If anyone wants to lend a hand, mail me on [email protected] . It's probably going to be about another month, at the least before things come to fruition.
Anyway, a meeting in London / Eastbourne sounds very civilised indeed. Did anyone have a day in mind?
There won't be cake. It's a made up drug.
Ailie, come back and be strict with me...
Stop that flirting talk!
Not very strict, but the best I can come up with at this short notice...
>Will there be cake?
Sam D, if you come along, I will make the effort to bake a cake.
Isn't that so domestic of me?!
I'll be buying one of those stair lifts next...
Kinder: Are you going to come? (no pun intended)
To say that I am intrigued by you would be a vast understatement. :0)
Ah Ailie, you know how to make me smile...
and more besides...
LOL
Fantastic!
Thanks Ailie!
Any clue as to the cake genre?
Jon and I have discussed the merits or otherwise of Battenburg in the past, so that could eb a talking point.
'Cake genre' - is this a category of comedy covering Brass Eye, Armistice etc?
What a great name!
>Kinder: Are you going to come? (no pun intended)
>
>To say that I am intrigued by you would be a vast understatement. :0)
You aren't the one who's been lurking around my address of late and knocking longingly at the door are you? In fact are you the one currently in my living room?
Shame Manchester might be too far for you, Ailie...
Hmmmm... I don't really like battenburg...
How about a nice chocolate cake instead?
Or maybe yogurt cake? That's very nice.
>Shame Manchester might be too far for you, Ailie...
Well I'll just have to hope it's going to be in the south...
I have a friend in Manchester that I really must get around to visiting though...
How far away is Manchester from Liverpool?
I have a friend there too...
Manchester is virtually on Liverpool's doorstep.
Well, I'll probably be there at some point in the not-too-distant future, as I have a friend at uni in Preston who I was going to go and see at the same time as the one in Liverpool... hmmm....
"Manchester is virtually on Liverpool's doorstep."
Wales is in a window-box, Sheffield is just down the end of the garden, and Newcastle is next door, but you can reach it through a gap in the fence.
Is that geographically correct?
See the geography thread for details
Is the pant game on the schedule?
What pant game?
I want the cow quiz.
Coooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...
OH MY GOD!! YEAAAAAH!
SOTCAA Pants On A Stick league matches!
That would make for a truly memorable day!
Oh, it'll be a memorable day anyway.
*sings* tj loves ailie
Ah, the innocent words of someone who has never played the game...
Nope, I've never played the pants game.
Played the cow quiz though.
>*sings* tj loves ailie
Up until yesterday he thought I was male...
Huh!?!??!?!?
To quote from the 'help help help' thread:
"Ailie, I never realised you were female until now!!!"
No, I wasn't referring to that.
It was the song.
Can't you have the meeting a little closer to me? Meet you halfway - how's India sound?
(Keep it up Peter J - I'll email you again for an update on your progress)
>It was the song.
Oh. I was trying to work out who posted that, but couldn't.
OWN UP WHOEVER YOU ARE!
Never mind - if it was true, I'd come right out and say it..
So it's not true?
Damn. I thought whoever wrote that had some form of proof...
Well, it might be...
Oooooooooohhhhh!
How exciting! :0)
...but maybe not suitable for public consumption!
Oh, you tease!
Off the forum is the place to discuss such matters!
This is the most bizarre discussion I have ever had on this site, aside from Kinder Surprise and her fascination with verruca crevices.
Oh Ailie, I'm not _that_ bizarre!
Ailie, you're laying yourself wide open. And that's what kinder surprise does.
shhhhhhh you'll put her off!
[sings to the tune of Amy Grant's 'Baby Baby']
Ailie, Ailie, I'm taken with the notion, to love you with the sweetest of devotion...
*vomits*
See. Look what you made me do.
Jon, I'll have less of the snippy comments thank you very much.
Just what are you trying to imply?
>Ailie, you're laying yourself wide open. And that's what kinder surprise does.
I resent this. Ailie is nowhere near the depths I have often put on display.
Yes - but are we going to meet or not? I think the Eastbourne idea is a good one - but London might be better transport wise if people are coming from all over.
The beginnig of October is OK, but it would have to be on the weekend (I suspect this may be true for most of us).
BTW Ailie does your mate at Preston Uni do English? Coz if they do they've got one of my old friends as a lecturer.
Is this a private meeting or can any big-breasted penicillin-phobic old alcoholics (late 20's) join in? I'll travel anywhere within 150 miles of London for a good craic...
>BTW Ailie does your mate at Preston Uni do English? Coz if they do they've got one of my old friends as a lecturer.
YES!
Ask him if he knows Stephen Crosthwaite!
Jesus, I don't have time to read 94 lines. Can someone just give me the short version? Is this going ahead? I might be interested if it's in the London area.
Rob, in the unlikely event that you're reading this, can we have a noticeboard or something so that upcoming events can be posted without getting lost? Ta.
Cool! ask your mate if they know Stuart Reeves! (God - I hope they don't hate him, that could be embarassing...)
>Jesus, I don't have time to read 94 lines. Can someone just give me the short version?
Maybe London or Maybe a barbecue on the beach in Eastbourne. Maybe in October on a weekend...
I don't think the discussion got further than that...
Oh and also, there will be cake.
>Cool! ask your mate if they know Stuart Reeves!
Will do...
I'll let you know the verdict!
"Ailie is nowhere near the depths I have often put on display."
I don't wish to gaze into your depths, please cover them.
Al, my friend says that he's never heard of your friend!
Does he teach at preston *College*?
Stephen's at Central Lancashire (in Preston) which would explain the having-never-heard-of-him scenario...
I'm busy this weekend, can we make it next weekend or the one after? Thanks.
>I'm busy this weekend, can we make it next weekend or the one after? Thanks.
>>>No problem. Just let me know either through the forum, or email, as soon as it gets sorted out!
>PS: Is kinder and Ailie coming?
You should ahve made it earler in the month, then i might have been able to make it.
no, hang on.
>>PS: Is kinder and Ailie coming?
Are you basing your decsion to come around the two of us being there?!
Is that a good thing or bad?
Hmmmm....
I will be there.
I hope this makes you happy! :0)
But where is it though?
Why don't you have another one of your surveys, Jon?
Ordnance Survey?
Oh, you funny, funny man!
One of your 'SOTCAA Reader' surveys
Because no one was interested. Besides, the vast numbers of TV people who read the site didn't take part, so there was no point anyway.
So shall we all just disagree about where it's going to be for a while, call each other cunts and then start a new thread about how we're all missing the point, then?
No... are we going to Eastbourne or not? The ball's in your court, Ailie.
I'm in London! But I'll be in Liverpool in mid October. Not that this information helps anyone at all.
Do you all realise it could take years, possibly decades, for us to decide where to meet and when?
>No... are we going to Eastbourne or not? The ball's in your court, Ailie.
Well, I said before that I thought it would be good, but Al said he'd prefer London...
Eastbourne is definitely easiest for me and if it pisses down with rain (spoiling the barbie idea), we can either go to the pub, or to my place, which is pretty central.
I think this is a good idea, but I invite any better ideas.
The only point I think is arguable is the location, as it could be a bit out of the way for some of you.
If you want to come, then let me know what you think.
If you fancy Eastbourne, mail me or post a message here. Likewise, if you'd rather it was elsewhere, let me know that too and maybe we can get this sorted out.
Also I thought October would be good.
Anyone think otherwise?
I'm OK for London or Eastbourne. Anywhere further depends on my mood on the day.
If London, I say meet at ULU - really near to Euston station.
Well, if I'm going to leave sunny Manchester, I need confirmation of cake. Timing may be important too.
And perhaps recommendations of the best five-star hotels in the area. Or cheapest doss-houses.
Are the streets really paved with gold?
Consider the cake confirmed.
Bonza!
And the crate of shandy?
You'll have to bring your own. I couldn't bring myself to go buy it...
>And the crate of shandy?
Jon - I'll bring a bottle of lemonade along with the beers and you can make your own!
***********
>I will be there.
>I hope this makes you happy! :0)
Aww, thanks Ailie :) , but kinder hasn't replied yet (sob).
But when is it? Also, do you know any B&Bs in Eastbourne?
Hahahahah!
Eastbourne is B&B land!
I can mail a list to anyone who wanted one if of course we are doing E'bourne.
Are we?
Where is Eastbourne?
>Because no one was interested. Besides, the vast numbers of TV people who read the site didn't take part, so there was no point anyway.
Bitch!
London or Eastbourne, I have no preference, but timing wise, sometime in mid-September. How about Saturday 9th, or Saturday 16th?
Almost directly 'down' from London
How about Saturday 9th, or Saturday 16th?
Too early for me. I'm stuck in Scotland until the 22nd, then I'm moving, so I'll have stuff to do as far is that is concerned.
Second Weekend in October? Saturday the 14th?
Justin doesn't have SOTCAA access at the minute, but he mailed me that he doesn't have a weekend free for 6 weeks anyway. So 2nd week of October would suit him... and of course we have to suit Ailie, as she's putting us up, making breakfast, buying gifts, etc.
In the mean time, why don't the SOTCAA people who live around the London area have a meeting, or have one in Manchester, whatever?
Only kidding Ailie, I wouldn't abuse your hospitality. I won't even ask for shandy.
Anyone fancy a pint in manchester?
>and of course we have to suit Ailie, as she's putting us up, making breakfast, buying gifts, etc.
If I knew you better I would offer you a place to stay, but there is the niggling 'maybe they're axe murderes' thought...
So it *is* Eastbourne then?
>>and of course we have to suit Ailie, as she's putting us up, making breakfast, buying gifts, etc.
>
>
>If I knew you better I would offer you a place to stay, but there is the niggling 'maybe they're axe murderes' thought...
>
>So it *is* Eastbourne then?
Yes Eastbourne sounds cool, and the later into October the better for me - particularly if it coincides with my half term. Sam D - if I go up to Stockport to visit my Mum any time soon I'll let you know and I'd gladly meet up for a beer.
BTW Ailie I know for a fact that Jon isn't an axe murderer - he favours blunt instruments.
That would be dandy Al!
I'm sure I can find my way to Eastbourne for booze and cake!
"The later into October the better for me - particularly if it coincides with my half term."
Hasn't he told you yet? Al is only 11. That's why there can't be any naughty booze at the meeting.
Thought you all knew.
Only kidding! Al is a teacher. Mind you, don't they look younger these days?
Boh!
*puts hand up*
Hands up who's excited!
:0)
*puts axe down*
Me.
So... what have we agreed to, then?
Eastbourne, 2nd weekend in October.
No axes.
Any disagreements?
I make that 14th October. Could you tell me how to get there, and also the phone numbers of some B&Bs in the area, please?
mail to: [email protected]
I'd need to know some directions/ whereabouts/ and B&Bs too, please!
Sam, if I were you, I'd get a train from Manchester to Euston, then the tube to Victoria, then another train to Eastbourne. Whcih should take about 4 hours at least.
Hey guys what happened to the all important anonymity?
Although the temptation of a BB would be worth any necessary court injuctions which may follow.
Yup. No probs, Jon.
I'll get some details together and mail them to you ASAP.
Anyone else who would like similar information, please e-mail me at:
[email protected]
PS. Kinder, you've got to come. It wouldn't be the same without you! :0)
OK, October 14th Eastbourne it is then.....but are you coming kinder?
Ailie - I'll be in touch to get some details from you a.s.a.p.
Does anyone have a copy of OOTT they can send me? I'm putting it on this thread cos I know that Happy Jim won't read it - he's only interested in threads that are about him.
I'd really appreciate a copy: [email protected]
>In the mean time, why don't the SOTCAA people who live around the London area have a meeting, or have one in Manchester, whatever?
Well, I'm up for meeting in London. Anyone around on Sunday afternoon? 2pm in the NFT bar, under Waterloo Bridge? Or the bar deck of the Queen Mary pub boat on the north embankment next to Waterloo bridge on the Hungerford bridge side? Or (arrgggh!) All Bar One somewhere - Upper Ground, Wardour Street?? Anyone?
I'm away this weekend, but can manage the next one. Anyway, I work in London so I can meet in the week if anyone's interested.
>I'm away this weekend, but can manage the next one. Anyway, I work in London so I can meet in the week if anyone's interested.
Maybe next week sometime, perhaps Monday...
Forgive us for not being arsed to read through 149 previous messages, but, anyone in Manchester?
1) Eastbourne - I'll be there!
2) Simon - can meet in London but weekends are best.
3) Manchester - possibly, but I'm not going up North for a while.
I'll be at Eastrbourne on October 14th - awaiting reply from Ailie about B&B, & other info.
Simon>>> London is OK-but weekends only. Email me if you wish to arrange a meet.
The Manchester Mob>>> I'll make the trip up north depending on date, location, accomodation, etc; again Email me.
kind regards, and look forward to hearing from you,
george
[email protected]
>Simon>>> London is OK-but weekends only.
Hey, I can do Eastbourne too, weekends only...
I now have accommodation info if anyone wants me to send it to them.
Anyone still interested in meeting in London, sooner, as well?
Mr G etc - I'm in Liverpool - shall we arrange a Northernly meeting???
>Anyone still interested in meeting in London, sooner, as well?
Yeah, if at the weekend - just email me to arrange or confirm any details.
>Anyone still interested in meeting in London, sooner, as well?
Yes... how about this weekend? At whatever venues I previously suggested, or whichever alternative you prefer... Sunday afternoon maybe, around 2.30?
TJ - Liverpool is good as I'm planning to go there one weekend soon-ish.
TO>> Jon & Simon Harries >>>
No problems for a London meet this weekend.
Let me know when it gets sorted out.
PS>> Thanks to Ailie for the Eastbourne info, and Jon for getting in touch.
george :o)
hmm...what's been going on here? Have you all set up a commune?
>hmm...what's been going on here? Have you all set up a commune?
Feed the chickens will you kinder? I've put some lentils on for tea.
And ooh, they really do suit you.q
Hi Jon & Bent (and anyone else interested)
Thanks for your emails, hope you got mine today..
Yep, Sunday 10th, 2pm, NFT Bar, sounds great. I emailed you my mobile number so call me if you can't make it.
>Hi Jon & Bent (and anyone else interested)
>Thanks for your emails, hope you got mine today..
>Yep, Sunday 10th, 2pm, NFT Bar, sounds great. I emailed you my mobile number so call me if you can't make it.
Goodness me, what fun... Can't wait for the next one...
