I would presume they will - eventually. I think there was supposed to be a rebrand, but now Granada is buying them I doubt we will se anything before the deal goes through and HTV gets sold to Carlton

HTV change their logo every year anyway and their next one will probably be designed by Carlton's Martin Lame Nairn. Meridian's and Anglia's will probably be English & Pockett again - yawn.

Rumours were that UNM were to introduce new idents on September 4th. Rumours indicate that the UNM logo was to feature in the idents. If this is true, then the revamp is unlikely to take place, unless the logo can easily be removed. If it isn't true then maybe they will relaunch. All this though is a rumour that may not even be true.

Other rumours suggest that the Carlton franchises will revert to their old names on October 5th.

I know for a fact (because I read it on a noticeboard at the London Studios last Friday) that Granada is about to completely rebrand itself, with new logos.

It was a brief notice, and didn't go into detail, but I think the catering/leisure/service part will branch off and rebrand under a new identity, while the media part will retain the Granada name. There was a sentence about how importantly the company views this part of its heritage.

Re: logos, I don't know if that "G" with the upright arrow is to be retained - hopefully it will. Maybe it will just be the "Granada Media" logo (a different G with an arrow pointing to the top right) that changes.

Granada demerged a month or so ago into Granada Media and Granada Compass. This is probably to what the memo referred.

As part of this, Granada Media has a new logo - they ditched that strange G.

I've had this great idea for an Anglia logo. They could use a knight on horseback carrying their banner, accompanied by Handel's Water Music.

Hey, anything's better than that bloody triangle or the generic itv logo!

If they did bring back the knight, it would probaly be computer generated - although I understand that the original is kept in a glass case in Anglia House, Norwich.

>As for the unm companies getting new idents, I haven't heard or seen anything to suggest that they will at the present time.

Sorry, got distracted there and posted message before writing anything. I was simply going to say that someone I know who worked at Anglia told me that the knight had been stolen.... it used to stand in reception at Anglia House, but no longer. Still, it was probably a lie - anyone been in reception at Anglia House recently?

A computer generated knight could be cool. I often find myself wondering what computer generated versions of the classic Thames, Southern and ATV logos would look like too.

try looking at www.java-tv.co.uk then.

There are whole sections of "what would have happenned if......"Westcountry had started in the 1960s, or Thames were still with us

it's cool

BTW, does anyone have a high-quality WAV or MP3 file of the Thames TV startup theme?

A CGI knight on horseback galloping towards the screen holding the Anglia 'flag' banner. Knight goes past the edge of the screen leaving the flag behind to form the logo.

Anyone?
