>It's the begining of the end for local news in Central and Westcountry regions.
>
>Central News carried a preview of tomorrow's special report on boating on the Isle of Wight (This struck me as odd on a local Midlands programme to begin with) and the dreaded words at the end spoken by the OB presenter? "Tomorrow at six on CARLTON. - he didn't say Carlton Central - he didn't say Central News - but the company - suggesting to me that this feature is being shared between the three Carlton regions. Now we've had shared "local" documentaries before - but now the news is becoming Carltonised - God help us all. Personally, I defected to BBC ONE years ago once I was old enough to realise how crap the whole of ITV was, but it is very sad.
>I must admit Midlands Today is a lot better these days, especially since Carlton got their hands on Central, but have you ever considered listening to BBC Local Radio.
BBC WM is excellent, & coupled with Midlands Today, provides all I want with local news.
P.S.
If anybody's interested, there's a chance to see some BBC West Midlands TV & Radio presenters in action at the Sandwell Show, this upcoming Bank Holiday Sunday & Monday, & perhaps win some competitions as well.
