Instead of simply not watching it, make a point of watching whatever is on the other side instead. The worse and more embarrasing to be beaten in the ratings war by the programme is, the better.

I'm sure they must just make it up, although i did see a programme about it oncem where a middle aged woman got the chance of taking part.

I assumed they'd found a way to work it into that, such as an inbuilt feature in the set top boxes...

They have - if you have a $ky box, it calls $ky up a few times a day to tel them what you've been watching.
However, most people don't have $ky, so the information doesn't say what the population as a whole is watching, only that portion of it watching on $ky.
