Want to write sitcom? Posted Tue Aug 8 17:34:40 BST 2000 by [email protected]

I have only just discovered this fascinating site and, frankly, am ploughing through it struggling to fathom who is responsible for it and what their aims are. The Lee & Herring / Avalon connection is hinted it in this forum but left curiously openended.

Any road up, since this site seems to be dedicated to improve the lot of TV comedy, let me alert you to Sits ac, if you've not already heard of it.

Situations Vacant works with new writers and performers to devise and stage test new sitcoms and comedy concepts for TV and radio. We've had a couple of BBC pilots made, secured pro writng gigs for many of our contributors, and our stage shows (The Sitcom Trials, webcast by hahabonk.com) get a good industry audience.

Anyone interested in making sitcom, check out our website and get in touch.

Then maybe someone can explain what SOTCAA'S all about.

Keep it up

Of course none of us want to get involved in actually writing or doing anything involving comedy. Don't you understand this forum's philosophy?

Rob S, please remove this strand, it distresses me.

Hmmm ... is this sitsvac thing kosher? Anyone actually dealt with them?
Not sure about sitcom, though. I'd rather write for The Onion.

The sitvac site does has some good info on writing sitcoms, some of it similar to the BBC guidelines. It sounds as though none of you particularly want to write sitcoms though.

Kev F Sutherland... That rings a bell.

Kev - are you the same Kev F who appeared on that show 'Flux' a few years back at a million o'clock in the morning, visiting Richard Herring's parents' house in Cheddar with a really gorgeous portly girl who did a bit of stand-up?

I would fully support any sitcom which featured the portly girl in question. Preferably barefoot.
