The Goodies: The Movie Posted Mon Aug 7 01:17:16 BST 2000 by Cornfed

Tim Brooke-Taylor was being interviewed by Parky on the radio today, and one of the things discussed was that Steven Spielberg was genuinely interested in making a movie of The Goodies. Apparently, the whole thing collapsed when 1941 died on it's arse, and the bearded one vowed never to direct another comedy.

Now, I don't see any reason why Timbo would be making this up, but can anyone confirm if this is true? Of course, it could possibly have become another Guest House Paradiso/Rising Damp/On The Buses-type fiasco, but with Spielberg at the helm, it could well have been (at worst) a half-decent affair of Porridge proportions, or (at best) maybe even up there with Life of Brian or Holy Grail. Anyone?

It could well have been a nice idea and the story is true.

This is another example of a handful of Goodies anecdotes that do the rounds in interviews, similar to the Mary Whitehouse story ("she loved us to start with").

and write this website.

The point of this spamming is to 'out' them and their opinions and make them face the people they have anonymously attacked.

And yes, I do see the irony in doing it ironically.

I was mid teens when the Goodies were around and I did watch it. Why then, can't I remember a single thing about it?
