I caught the end of it. It seemed OK, though I was pissed at the time.
I quite liked it. Must have enjoyed it as when the continuity annoucer stumbled and errounously said "there'll be more next week", before correcting himself and saying "next year" (as it was only the pilot episode that was broadcast) I was disappointed.
Reminded me of Little Blighty on the Down (remember that? much better than Weekending when it replaced said show during summer break in Weekending's twilight years) in a small way, but without the topicality.
RE: "Little Blighty on the Down"
Didn't that exist way back in the late 80s, as the summer Weekending replacement? There was something like that, that was pretty feeble, I recall.
>It's on tonight at 11pm on R4, if anyone's interested. I was at the recording and it seemed to be pretty funny.
This actually was quite funny. I'd forgotten about just being able to sit and laugh at things because they're funny. There's not been much opportunity lately.
[little blighty on the down]
I caught it on radio 4 in the very early 90's (probably 91), and yes, it was on in Weekending's summer slot.
I never said it was wonderful, just that it was a bit better than how Weekending was going by then. Though compared to it's later splutterings, the early 90's Weekending was wonderful. The very last episode excepted, but then that used nostalgia for the majority of it's jokes.
