Seinfeld Posted Wed Aug 2 21:31:00 BST 2000 by Justin

As far as I'm aware, it's not been covered here. Am I the only one (apart from journalists who pretend to have seen it) who thinks it's about as consistently good as live-action American comedy gets? And about as badly-treated by British TV as it's possible to get (rejected by fool Cassidy at Channel 4, bought by BBC2, first few episodes screened at 9pm, then banished later and later and later - last series ran after midnight, how will they build an audience for that? And STILL two seasons to go). I think it's even better than Larry Sanders. There! That should get someone replying.

I disagree strongly with saying it's better than larry..but yes it was good...

I always thought it was strange that BBC2 put them together...they didn't really seem suited to me....

I too think it is better than Larry Sanders, the only bits i dont like it about it, oddly are Jerry Seinfelds actual short stand up bits that prelude every episode, i dont find his stand up material funny, yet I find his writing in the actual program hilarious, very odd. I use to watch it on BBC2 and then Sky, and i was actually able to download many early episodes in real video from some web site i found ages ago. It seems to have been consistantly good from the very start to the very finish, which is nice..

Does anyone know the reason BBC2 don't screen it more often? The BBC are dim, but they'll usually broadcast something to death if they know it's popular. There must be a tedious legal/contractual reason. Anyone?

Seinfeld is being repeated on Paramount towards the end of September on weekends - starting with the episode where he thinks his doctor? is a coke-head.

Bout time. Does anyone know if the BBC are going to squeeze series 8 into post-midnight slots this autumn like series 7 last year, while they're waiting for Dispatch Box to return?

Sorry, addenda to the above: Seinfeld starts at 8.30 pm on Tuesday 26 September, starting with the episode "The Mango". Enjoy!

Many thanks Stuart. Now all I have to do is find a friend of mine with cable....or Sky Digital. Duh.

Yeah, the repeats of Seinfeld are most welcome for those of us unfortunate enough to only have terrestrial TV. Duuuh.

And it was his accountant who he thought was on coke, not his bloody doctor.
