Every station they take over, they get shot of all the decent presenters.

Why?

They own the local franchises in my area too. Same generic slogans, jingles, etc;

However, I wouldn't listen to my local BBC service (3CR), as it is truly dreadful, and I don't even have the option of GLR anymore, since they turned it into *London Live* :(

A - I like Beacon FM, it has the BIG advantage that it is the only decent pop station I can still get in Powys when I'm driving to Wales - I can still get the Shrewsbury frequency nearly as far as Newtown. Since there is NO ILR in the area and I cannot bring myself to listen to radio 1 unless I absolutely have to, it is a good service.

B - Which 3 Counties does 3CR actually cover? I always wondered.

...but it's really a talk/phone-in station run from a small office in Luton.
