Who cares about HTV West....it's a piss poor little station that overbid and then went cap in hand to the ITC to get a reduction in its licence payments! They've made huge cutbacks in local production and News and the technical quality of their local programming was always poor compared to TVS and Central and still doesn't stand up very well against Meridian. I can't speak for Welsh viewers but certainly Carlton cant make HTV West any worse than it is already

Well i think you'll be surprised that viewing figures for HTV have actually outperformed the rest of the ITV network and in fact where national viewing figures for local programmes have declined - in the HTV areas local programmes have got higher audience shares than the network equivalent of which they are opting out of!!!! So there!!
On the other hand since Carlton have taken over the other two 'stations' there figures for local programming have declined dramatically. Carlton can just fu

And HTV seems to be the only ITV station that cares about consistency in presentation. And all the trailers have HTV idents too!

I'm not talking about viewing figures!!!! - Which are often inexplicable and mystifying to those of us who work in TV - I'm talking about Technical quality which is poor.....It's not an issue for debate....HTV's programmes are under-resourced and not as good as they should be technically...statement of fact!!!

Whilst HTV do make a lot of regional programmes, they are now hiding them at lunchtime rather than the old teatime slots. I expect this will affect viewing figures, and may be used as an excuse to get rid of them. The news on HTV is poor compaired to the BBC's effort (and has an appalling DOG). Points West beats it at least 2:1 in the ratings.

According to the ITC report for HTV West the only technical difficulties that were mentioned were about the 'numerous technical difficulties' encoutered by their live prog Live and Local. A very ambitious prog for a local slot!!!
