Errr, so what about Border then?

It depends on the arithmetic. If the new Granada Media stations have 14.5 per cent of the television market or less, they could take it. (Anyone know that figure?).
However, as far as I understand it, Granada has a deal with Capital Radio with a three-year option to buy Border. So for the time being it's officially independent, but it's really a puppet station, about as independent as Bulgaria was in the Warsaw Pact.

I went to www.border-tv.co.uk to find out. This is what it said:
"These pages contain information about our executives, transcripts of some of our programmes, information about our technical facilities, and links to our radio stations."
Fascinating, I'm sure you'll agree.

According to the Granada Presentation, Border is classed as part of Scottish Media Group.

According to the BBC Online article, the figure is 15% of total viewing auidence.
I still suspect that Border will eventually be split between Scottish and Granada, and a deal may be done with RTL for United's stake in Channel5. Carlton still look like the most likely buyer for HTV.
Sky News and the Times say its 14.6% just to clear things up :)
