Advertisements they do when no-one is looking Posted Thu Jul 27 13:39:10 BST 2000 by Flop

My correspondent from Down Under tells me that Nigel Planer (as Neil) is doing ads for motor oil. Apparently he looks 'very, very old'.

Is the Japanese real? What does it mean?

I hate to disappoint you, but it's only "quasi-Japanese". 'Richard desu' means 'I am Richard', but the rest is made up from plausible sounding crap. 'Yunomi' is tea-cup, and 'ne' seems to mean "is it not?". Maybe if I'd been accepted on the JET programme I'd be able to tell you more. F**kers.
Not that I'm bitter.

Oh yeah, and there really is a drink called 'Pokari Sweat'.
Japan is great.

Is a pokari some kind of animal, then?

Maybe it's a fruit, or something.

Or what.

Dunno what it is, but it tastes surprisingly nice!

I think Pokari is just the brand-name, but I never really got beyond learning how to say "Where are the cute schoolgirls?" so don't quote me on that.
