Are you sure about that single huge image-map as the front page? Most people (those not behind a university high-speed connection) will give up before it finishes loading. You should at least consider a text only alternative.

O God, it's all like that.

You've missed the point of the Internet.

Just had a look at the "me" page - you have some kind of genius when it comes to comedy hairstyles, I must say. Also your face reminds me of the face of the one from the Monkees with the woolly hat. Mike Nesmith?

Whilst I agree about the image map comments, surely we can rise above petty personal abuse? After all, it's not as if SLW is promoting some kind of business. She's created something, it's quite fun, and it's not claiming to be funny (like certain other plugged websites on this forum...) It's certainly far better than anything I could do.

But the image maps do take ages to load - perhaps small icon GIFs instead?

What are you talking about? I always quite fancied Mike Nesmith.

Nothing wrong with looking like Mike Nesmith - if you're a bloke. Mind you my Auntie looks a bit like him (before he grew his beard...)

I think the above frank exchange of views clarifies the matter adequately.

Meaning...?

That wasn't supposed to be abuse; if you design a site so it takes 100 times longer than necessary to read, you are missing some fairly major points.

Don't think Al was referring to technical points - think he meant that there were a couple of unnecessary and unpleasant comments about SLW's appearance.

Absolutely Dr H - I agreed with your point about the page design. It was the coments about SLW herself I thought were a bit unnecessary...

Yes, but if you look carefully, you'll see that I only talked about the image maps. Peter O started going on about the Monkees. I didn't get as far as the image galleries. Because I couldn't be bothered to wait 10 minutes a page for the image maps. Do you see?

I'm feel I'm being morally penalised simply for having the patience to wait for the daft images to load.

Yes! I do see. I thought I'd explained myself but obviously I didn't do it very well.
Dr H - agreed with you.
Peter O - thought your comments were a bit insulting.

OK?

I'm sure the Monkees can take a few knocks. They're big boys.

You'll notice that she herself hasn't replied to any of these friendly criticisms for the past few days. Maybe she's been trying to load the site herself...

think she read one reply and went quiet.

I can understand that.
