Well then you want a Granada/Carlton merger then. Granada will kill the Carlton name and possibly sell LWT to United so that would strengthen Meridian as well (as the dominant player in United's empire)...
Mind you, here's a thought. What if Granada were to buy Carlton, then sell London *weekday* to United. Ho ho ho, wouldn't that be funny, we could then see a situation where for a while the only station on the network bearing the Carlton name did not belong to Carlton!!! There's irony for ya...
I just think ITV should be entirely shut down.
I'm not the only one.
I'd be out of a job.
Cheers.
You could go and work for Channel 4.
Talent spotter for the 11OCS, perhaps. Or you could work in comedy.
No it shouldn't be shut down, we would have nothing to waste our sad lives talking about.
I hope and pray that granada take over carlton. It would be funny if that happened if they sold the weekday to UMN, but in the real world they wouldn't sell it, they'll strip LWT and just basically sell the licence and the name, also if UNM did buy london midweek, it wouldn't be called carlton for long.
If e-mail petitions don't work, I don't think praying will either.
>also if UNM did buy london midweek, it wouldn't be called carlton for long.
Yeah, it would probably change to United TV
> I just hope Meridian is not ever in Carlton's clutches.
You mean apart from the 25% of Meridian they already own?
>
Alright clever clogs! I know that CARLtON own a stake in Meridian Broadcasting, but 25% doesn't entitle them to rebrand it CARLtON South and sack Fred Dinenage.....as I'm sure they'd feel compelled to do if they ever owned it. Judging by their treatment of Central Independent TV and Westcountry!
Well, it's a good thing I work at Granada Media then.
Don't worry - I hate ITV it is very shit. But Granada does make stuff for other channels and it makes dramas that I like - Prime Suspect being a particular favourite. I realise though that this, being a comedy forum, is mostly interested in the comedy output of ITV. Which I would be the first to say doesn't exist.
Its actually 20% isnt it?
Anyway,
LWT being removed is VERY unlikely, Granada would buy Carlton and then sell of Carlton weekday to united, OR Pearson have expressed their interest in it ( the now owners of Thames, which has been all but destroyed now)
.
Even if UNM did get hold of LWT they would most likely not rename it.
I would guess that if LWT was removed there would be a public outcry.
