The Corporate Circuit
Posted Mon Jul 17 17:04:12 BST 2000 by Jon
According to the last Private Eye, Graham Norton compered some event run by Microsoft. I heard a while back that Steve Punt also now does corporate events. Who else does? How much do they get for it? What do we think of them for it? Are there any people who are asked but turn it down?
Anyway, let's just have something new to write about other than old shows or J.Savill's alleged proclivities.
Me, I think fair enough, it's their living, etc.

I meant that last bit about the corporate circuiteers, not about J.Savill (allegedly).

Given that you haven't spelt his name right, I doubt spelling "allegedly" wrong would matter.

No, the 'allegedly' was spelt correctly, but I now accept that the name of the presenter of "Jim'll Fix It" is spelt 'Saville'. I thought it was originally, then I had the idea I'd been spelling it incorrectly, now I'm back to the right spelling.
Anyone still bothered about this strand? I feel pretty jaded about it.

So, Jon, you're saying that it's allegedly OK for minors to make their living from Jimmy Savill?

Steve Punt DOES do a lot of corporate stuff, and I think it must pay extremely well, because he was recommending it to me last year as a good career move.
Even Jesus Cleese did those videos a while back, didn't he? Nice little earner.

Cleese made a fortune with Video Arts, through which he appeared in and wrote various motivational/training videos... eventually employing the likes of Fry & Laurie, Ronnie Corbett, all sorts of comedians...

I saw Mark Thomas doing a set at a training day for Nestle a couple of months ago. He was great.
Kidding.

Garry Bushell was once complaining that 'traditional' comics were forced to do the corporate circuit these days because the C4 lot had taken over the telly.
They must regret it...

Anyone else catch Coogan whoring himself for Walkers Crisps on 'Before They Were Famous'? "Comic creation" my arse - the man IS Alan Partridge.
