Tyne Tees Posted Thu Jul 13 12:29:48 BST 2000 by Bods

As many of you know, I am the bloke behind The Tyne Tees Logo Page (http://www.durge.org/~bods/tv/tynetees/). The site has gone under a number of names over the years (well two) and I get the feeling that the current name no longer sums up what the site is about.

The site was about Tyne Tees logos. Now it has history, features, information and more. The logos are pretty secondary. So I would like a new name.

Anyone got any good suggestions - nicely topical stuff (hopefully not too abstract). Entrants who suggest names with "with Mike Neville" at the end of them, will be shot :)

I think it would be more entertaining to know what drives all you comedy squatting twats out there to talk about comedy non-entities all day and their tragic little personal lives.

The sadness of your pathetic little wasted lives beggars belief, making stupid brain-dead little comments like you do. Go and shag someone. Go on, it might make you feel better.

<Stunned silence>

Actually a few years ago I had an email from someone at Bristol University asking me if he could mirror the site on a CD-ROM for blind people. I never asked why in perticular he wanted the TTLP on a CD-ROM for blind people, but I hope they liked the site!

"The development of regional television in the UK"

12,000 words on the history and prospects for the future of regional television, including case studies of Yorkshire and BBC North. I got background info about the Yorkshire-Tyne Tees merger (takeover) from your site. I also interviewed ex-Look North presenter Judith Stamper and was invited in to BBC Leeds to watch the 9.25 bulletin go out.

Uh-oh. He got a lot of that info from me. I just hope my prejudices haven't distorted the truth too much :) I didn't think my emails would form part of an academic paper... oh shit...

I think you should be safe. None of what is on there is untrue but much of my input had bile mixed in with it... lol

And they would be...? Certainly not YTV, that's for sure :) I know the employees had nothing to do with it, they have been victims of Maggie's little farce as well, but the management of Yorkshire-Tyne Tees between 1993 and 1997 was incompetent to say the least, and that's being nice to them. Some of the phrases I've heard from Newcastle- and Billingham- based staff about them are unrepeatable in a family forum!!

Some of the comments on this forum (or its previous incarnations) weren't terribly nice either...
