his polka medleys - classics
'Yeird Al' Wankovich.
Do you see?
who be he..?
>who be he..?
son of Polish accordion virtuoso Al Yankovic, who made numerous albums for the US market during the 80s and 90s. His gimmick is to take a pop hit of the day and change the words (a more proficient and accurate version of The Barron Knights, I suppose). But the polka medleys are brilliantly executed (you've got to hear Metallica's Enter Sandman segue into Cherry Pie by Warrant and Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice) and he did once do a song for his movie UHF (late night BBC1 every now and then) entitled Conan The Librarian.
Crap, but I laughed.
may just have to dig that li'l gem up...

The one I mentioned is called "Polka Your Eye Out" a medley consisting of:
"Cradle Of Love" by Billy Idol
"Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega
"Love Shack" by B-52s
"Pump Up the Jam" by Technotronic
"Losing My Religion" by REM
"Unbelievable" by EMF
"Do Me Baby" by Bel Biv Devoe
"Enter Sandman" by Metallica
"The Humpty Dance" by Digital Underground
"Cherry Pie" by Warrant
"Miss You Much" by Janet Jackson
"I Touch Myself" by Divinyls
"Dr Feelgood" by Motley Crue
"Ice Ice Baby" By Vanilla Ice.
It's on the album "Off the Deep End" (released in about 1993, also contains "Smells Like Nirvana" which is entertaining enough, and features a mock-up of the Nevermind sleeve on the cover).
If nothing else, you marvel at the musicianship - a polka band playing at breakneck speed. Jawdropping.
Don't forget 'Eat It.' - His take off of M Jacksons 'Beat it.'
Weird Al - often irritating and pointless, but often brilliant too. Best moments:
1) UHF - quite a good film if you give it a chance.
2) Redoing 'Macarthur Park' as 'Jurassic Park'
3) A polka version of 'Boehmian Rhapsody' - the entire song in two minutes flat.
Just wondered cos I got a copy of his late '80s album 'Even Worse' recently (Bad - Even Worse. Geddit!?!?) and I thought it was great, especially his spoofs 'I Think I'm A Clone Now' and '(This Song's Just) Six Words Long'.
And vada www.weirdal.com for a giggle.
"the saga begins" is my favourite:
the whole story of sw ep 1 to tune of American pie
also his Livin' in the fridge (aerosmith - livin on the edge) is cool
and the red hot chile pepprs / flintstones thing...
I only know of his version of that Jone Osbourne song. His edition is entitled 'What if God Smoked Cannabis.'
He is a great philosopher.
