According to Armando Iannucci's IMDB entry, individual episodes of "The Day Today" had episode titles, and it lists the one that he played Hellwyn Ballard in as 'Big Report'.

Anyone know any more about this?

the titles are however they were referred to in the preceding 'Mini-news'. That's how I always understood it, y'know, 'Factgasm' - all that.

Yep, found it. You're slightly wrong on the Goodies but I'll let you know all about that. A full, detailed guide to season one will be up on this site in a month or so. This will include a full transcript of 'Caught In The Act' so don't fret. It's great!

"First, The" (ep. #1.1) 1/19/1994
"Big Report" (ep. #1.2) 1/26/1994
"Meganews" (ep. #1.3) 2/2/1994
"Stretchcast" (ep. #1.4) 2/9/1994
"News" (ep. #1.5) 2/16/1994
"Factgasm" (ep. #1.6) 2/23/1994

I'm not so sure about the first one though, cos that's the video title..
