you're so cute!
Interested in a threesome?
You're just opportunistic espi and far too eager.
If all you 2 can go on about is cuteness and sex, i suggest Yahoo! Chat.
Once again, anyone like BBC idents.
Kinder, hopefully we shall meet again....
Absolutely, BBC idents are much better. My personal favourites - BBC1 early 80s, BBC1 late 80s, BBC2 early 80s, the 90s BBC2 'steam' ident, BBC NEWS 24's flags and BBC CHOICE's hearts.
The balloons and the News24 flags are cool (shame about the new N24 stuff.) I also liked the Choice Trumpets ident.
On the other hand, some of the older "Big 2" idents were crap - think "Copper" and that one with the sheet of nylon - BBC2 needs a new look anyway. And the generic Knowledge thins - with all the bizarre cartoon people - are so crap.

Yes, now the channel has gone more upmarket they seem rather inappropriate. Still, they only use them four days a week now. I wonder why they haven't got themed idents for Wednesday business and Thursday languages, like the other weekdays.
And as for News 24, I would somehow have preferred the BBC ONE news to adopt its look, rather than the other way round, there were lots of possible variations on the flags they could have used. Perhaps would have come a little unstuck for regional news, though.

I was surprised that News 24 adopted flags anyway. Flags were appropriate for BBC World (and in its pre 1997 incarnation they didn't just cust between shimmering flags, there was a lot more too it than that)

I'm sorry I just found your extreme appreciation fot television graphics quite adorable.
I actually really live the BBC CHOICE mice ident. So what happens as soon as I get digital? They abandon it and keep using those hearts. Boo!

Didn't really like the mice, but I didn't really like the hearts either. 'Fan' was my favourite, though they rarely showed it, and I liked 'Trumpet' too.
Why did they drop them? Were they too strange for a BBC ident?
>Why did they drop them? Were they too strange for a BBC ident?
Wish I knew. Wish I knew why they always use the same announcer too (presumably she's pre-recorded). If I had Sky, I think I'd have decamped to Scotland by now...
Please someone tell me, how do I get into the ident clique? Must I have a specified knowledge of the ratio of logo to background?

The announcer is now pre-recorded, but this has only been the case since they did the revamp (where they removed the 3 idents).
I also notice that symbols for 4:3 programmes on BBC Choice are in 4:3. At least at the weekends on BBC Choice NI when there is English Continuity the whole time this is the case.
> If I had Sky, I think I'd have decamped to Scotland by now...
I wonder how long it will be before everyone can get all the BBC ONEs via SkyDigital.
On a slightly different note - I've had an ambition to watch all the different regions opt-out at once on an array of screens. I just thought it would be interesting...
Fine don't ingratiate me into your sordid graphical world. You lot like to keep to yourselves don't you?
It's a fkg amalgam of out-of-work actors and coloured fonts! Help me understand! Why the worship? Why dedicate yourselves to the decadence of a graphic department and it's dilema of crumbs in the keyboard...help me understand!
Well I don't know about the rest of them but for me it was learning how to read and write at the age of 3 and a half by copying the contents of the TV guide page of the paper, made worse by knowing people who worked in Tyne Tees continuity a few years ago and getting involved in the subject when YTV decided to shut the lot down.

She's only on mini-disc in england - there's been occasions when they've left a fader open in london, and you can hear them checking the anno before they play it on air.
Wales certainly still has live con on Choice (wales)
kinder, sweetie -Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you (or anyone else), but merely in Wales, where they don't even have a mobile phone network in my experience, never mind an internet connection!!!!! Sheer hell!!!
I got into the ident thing proper (although I'm still a bit of an outsider in the clique) when I decided to use shots of idents as the "buttons" to access pages on my website - I then got launched into the ident zone to decide which ones to use and what were my favourites - it's a weird world, but welcome to the club!!
Is "Why Aye TV" a local channel in Newcastle?
*dives for cover*

Down here in South Wales places such as Cardiff and Newport, we can't stand the valleys either. We don't all shag sheep. At least we've got HTV.
There is a mobile phone network and internet connection, although i know you were being sarcastic.
Is that 'HTV' or 'HIV'?
Are you new here? Of course HTV - ITV for Wales
>Is that 'HTV' or 'HIV'?
We're not at home to Mrs. Smartarse. You're not Victor Lewis Smith are you?

This lack of communications certainly does help me understand why one would consider a graphic to be a friend.

I am actually having doubts Ben, I really do appreciate the offer but I just don't think I'm cut out for all this...but tell me, can an ident bring maternal simulations? Is it womb-like seeing a familiar graphic on-screen?
For some, quite possibly so - What a scary thought!
