Interactive (Television) Vote Posted Sat Jul 1 16:56:18 BST 2000 by Manager

What is your favourite channel or region?

* GRAMPIAN (north Scotland)
* STV (central Scotland)
* ULSTER (N. Ireland)
* BORDER (north Cumbria and scots lowlands)
* TTTV (extreme north east)
* YTV (Yorkshire, north Notts and Lincs)
* GRANADA (North west)
* HTV WALES (Wales)
* HTV WEST (north Westcountry)
* CARLTON WESTCOUNTRY (extreme south west)
* CARLTON CENTRAL (middle of midlands)
* ANGLIA (Northants to the East)
* CARLTON LONDON (capital and South East)
* LWT (as above)
* MERIDIAN (extreme south England)
* CHANNEL (islands only)

Whichever is your favourite write and say giving a reason why. After a week of everyone writing to this section we will see which is the viewers' choice of channel and region (and why).
Go on!
You can vote for the region you are currentley in (only if it's good, though!)

HTV WALES and WEST are brilliant because of the way they have defied ITV Network Centre by replacing the ITV logo for an HTV logo in the top left hand corner of the tv screen on ITV programme promotions.

It's regional output is also very good.

HTV Wales because they show a nice combination of regional programmes, from holiday programmes (with welsh destinations) to consumer programmes (The Ferret)

I vote for GRAMPIAN.

People forget us. It is great for regional output.

Come on everybody north of the border- vote for STV and Grampian- if you think they deserve the title of 'viewers favourite channel'.

HTV wales does seem to make a wide variety of local shows.

Here are some:

The Ferret (welsh 'watchdog' type show)
Away Days (welsh holiday show)
Money Spinners (welsh 'antiques roadshow)
Nuts & Bolts (welsh soap)

Nuts & bolts is now shown to the whole of the country on ITV2.

I think that both HTV regions are good but, yeah, i would say that the welsh region has slightly better regional programming.

Although, it doesn't make very many popular networked shows, which is a shame.

I vote for granada because even their networked programmes have something to do with the region.

they're mostly set in Manchester, I do feel sorry for Liverpool, I think Granada seems to ignore it

HTV is a very good regional channel. It certainly gets my vote. The west is good but I like the news for wales.

Yep! HTV Wales has a very strong brand image especially now with their new HTV logo over all the promotions.

As Wales has one ITV station broadcasting to a single country i think it is easier to produce programmes for the region as there is an obvious focal point for any programme.
HTV Wales local progs are far superior than many other ITV regions to an extent that they are repeated on a network basis on other channels, ie Nuts and Bolts on ITV2, Diary of a Garden CH4, Garden Calendar on Discovery, Mind to kill on C5......it's just when they are on other channels that damn United logo is always used and HTV get very little acknowledgement!!!

HTV Wales is the best!!! :) :) :) :) :)

I have lived in the Granada region all my life! :@ and as im sure most Granada viewers will know, Granada HATES Liverpool with a passion, Manchester, where the studios are and also Chester (Most of the presenters live in Chester! Like me :)) are favourites, there is also a newsroom in chester, where some regional news in done from, for example the breakfast news was done at Chester for sometime, not anymore thou :(

Granada is pants.

I had to endure it for 4 years whilst studying there and local programming was a dirty word! They would just schedule repeats of Corn St and Emmerdale and bad (well not that bad) American shows like Murder She Wrote, Renegade etc....If i remember correctly they once had a local prog about gardening!!! Can anyone think of any more???
