Oh no, the best one is West Country news WHOAH YEAH! A half-hour bulletin with 3 minutes of news, and a hell of a lot of filler material including pctures of cliffs, and seagulls, all accompanied by some delightful muzak!! Heheh, beat that!

Any thoughts on ANGLIA NEWS, LONDON TONIGHT, CENTRAL NEWS AT SIX, YTV CALENDAR or BORDER LOOKAROUND?

I love Mike Neville, he's been a constant presence on the North East news ever since I can remember, if the NE ever devolves, a la Scotland and Wales, he'll get my vote as our PM!!

HTV NEWS WALES is the best because it provides small humour as well as the news.
It also has the most cock-ups during it's bulletins on GMTV.
Did anyone see it the other day where someone must have flicked the wrong switch during GMTV and all that could be seen for
5 minutes was an empty HTV news studio?

LOL!!!!! It wasn't just HTV either the fault was at GMTV as all the newsrooms went to air 'unmanned' for about 5 minutes!!

Its good to know that someone at these TV stations is watching out for things like this!!! 5 minutes before they realised LOL!!!

UTV Live at Six is pretty good, though I prefer BBC News.

Right. Everyone has forgotton the best news programme in the UK EVER! Yep! We just have to mention Granada Tonight, which every night is "Bringing the news home closer to you".

How many other ITV news studios are big enough to have a kitchen setup in the studio? How many other ITV news programmes have sent a 50 year old mad man, dressed in a white shirt and white shorts, out to collect jewellry in North Wales on behalf of the RNLI? How many other ITV news programmes start their shows telling you how to make your own light sabre? How many other ITV news programmes have Fred Talbot reading the weather except when This Morning is off air?

Well?

Granada Tonight. The sign of quality.

UTV Live used to have a kitchen set-up a number of years ago.

But as for the rest, Granada probably does beat UTV hands down!

Granada Tonight is the biggest pile of shite loosely dressed up as a news/entertainment show!!!

I remember watching it many years ago (well five years anyway!) and there was all stabbings and shootings galore happening in Liverpool and Manchester.

All Granada Tonight were interested in covering was Ryan Giggs doing some cookery in a school somewhere for a 10minute section!!!
Back then, the actual news segment was from the Liverpool studios all compacted into a headline style five minute section (a la GMTV local news bulletin.)

The ratio of real news vs infotainment seemed to be about 95% info vs 5% news. This was when it was a half hour programmee!!

For us students it actually became cult viewing when we use to sit down and have a laugh at how much news there wasn't on a news programme and what they were actually going to fill the programme up with!!! What a hoot we all had!!! :)

Oh they were the days!!!

Anglia used to beat BBC East for years in terms of news coverage and local programming, but ever since United got their mits on it, it has slid downwards fast.

At one time, it covered urban and political issues well with confidence, but is sadly now full of irritating padding involving animals, nice villages, fields, etc; It also lost its ability to talk to viewers in a straight no-nonsense style. Now it is brightly coloured, (with a DOG!) smiley faces being patronising telling us about tress, whilst the majority of the Anglia News West region who live in the major towns and cities only get coverage if there is a murder or factory closure. But hey, there's no hedgehog interest, or executives who quit London to do pottery, etc;

Still it is always the same, you don't realise how good something is until it's gone...or in televisual terms, until you've seen the downmarket glossy replacement.
Best Regional News on ITV? No!
