I quite like it, but always forget to watch it for various reasons. I think it's because Daria and Jane remind me of me and my friends at school all those years ago!

I really like what I've seen of Daria - Jane is cool! Who's the oily guy in it who keeps trying it on with all the girls then going 'Ooh! Feisty!' when they have a go back? He's pretty funny too. And Daria's Dad is barking.

The problem I have with it is that Daria herself is just as smug and self-absorbed as the people around her, yet she is set up as some sort of detached commentator who sees through them (which no one is in The Simpsons). Or maybe it just strikes me that way because I hate teenagers.

There are some good bits though. Eg. the bit when Daria's dad, and his African-American colleague, ended up competing to see who hated welfare claimants the most. Very sharp.

Yeah but teenagers generally are smug and absorbed as a rule, I think thats what it's trying to say "Look, here's this kid who thinks she's different, but she really isn't".
My fave episode was when Quinn wanted plastic surgery, and took Daria along to the consultation. The consultant showed Quinn a computerised version of what she'd look like after $8000 worth of surgery, then did the same for Daria. The 'new look' the consultant suggested for Daria looked identical to Quinn, and Daria said "Great. The best she can do for me is something that still needs $8000 worth of surgery"
