Weren't these the guys who played percussion on dustbins and the like? (Before the days of Stomp!) They were dustmen in a Heineken ad - and didn't they change their name to the Yes/No People and release a single?
Dunno about any of that, but they were supposedly musicians turned cynical comics, who did a series of one-off comedy-drama type shows, featuring music and surreal interludes. There was definitely 1 woman, and I think 4 men, in the group. I remember feeling disappointed, because it sounded like something really interesting and different, and when I saw it it was rather dull and not very funny. But I don't remember much of what it was like.
Yes - that's the main thing - I thought it would be good and it wasn't. I've seen a lot more things like that over the years.
They did release a single - "Just One Cornetto" (yes, that one) on Stiff Records in spring 82. Saw them performing it on CBTV with Jim Sweeney and Steve Steen. It was reviewed in Smash Hits by ABC's Martin Fry who commended them on their good humour, or something.
Never saw the TV show though - viewers in Wales got their own programme.
It starred Pete McCarthy. An extra in Smith & Jones shows who now introduces stuff for BBC2's learning zone. Clever bloke that always comes across a dislikable on screen.
They also released a fun album in 1982 called Beach Party which is a cross between Bad Manners and 3Mustaphas3.There was also a soundtrack to their C4 show I remember seeing in the shops.
