Ere we go.I was trying to recall the name of this Alan Bates three part comedy drama that was on OOO I dunno, about nine ,ten years ago, maybe less.In it ,Bates plays a alcoholic egotistical English playwright, who has a chance to put his new play on in the States(New York and Texas) and we see all the disasters unfold as uptight American actors/directors deal with our heros drinking,smoking and general misbehaviour.Richard Wilson was in it too playing his rival and nemesis(obviously supposed to be Harold Pinter).It was on BBC,it was very good, what was it called? Cheers.

Thanks Richard .I have discovered it was called Unatural Pursuits(1991)and appears to be on video.
