Tyne Tees is GREAT! Posted Mon Jun 19 22:40:05 BST 2000 by Steve

Well, I am finally living in the Tyne Tees region now after moving from London, and I have to say what a fantastic station Tyne Tees is. This station is classic, it has great regional idents, and has a lovely local touch. The 'TTTV' is a classic, it looks lovely - like I said, the idents are brill. The weather graphics are nicely done, and the announcers are perfect. I don't know much else about the other stations owned by Granada (except LWT which I used to receive), but Tyne Tees beats LWT by miles. But it does appear that whilst Tyne Tees are pushing ahead, they are neglecting Granada and Yorkshire, maybe abusing them in order for them to be the 'leaders' with the 'best' station.

My mate reckons the entire Granada ITV network is done by Tyne Tees, and Tyne Tees love being in control. But then, why not? Give Granada and Yorkshire shit, whilst making themselves sexy.

Wowwwwwww!!! Wowwwwwww!! I've just watched Tyne Tees trigger off North East News at 11:25pm - what a lovely fade from the ident into the news. By, this station is pro!!!

BTW, I'm originally from the US - believe me, your regional TV is sexy if Tyne Tees is anything to go by.

what i dont get is:
How do you know?
I realise that due to inventions like cars and trains people can now travel these distances and experience strange new regional variations of ITV, but when you travel do you spend hours weighing up and evaluating the local news?
would you base a decision like "where in the country shall i move to?" on the quality of the regional tv?
is anything actually that different apart from the half hour after home & away till 6.00 and the 10 mins after the news?
at the end of the day you have to watch the tv from the region you're in . dont you?
I'm in the north-west watching granada, i think. Am i missing something wonderful?

What I don't get is, why can't some people tell if a guy is taking the piss?

There's a lot of sarcasm flying about :)

Tyne Tees being better than LWT... Honestly !

Mind you, that LWT ident is a bit gaudy isn't it?

i have to agree this is a bit of an unusual LWT ident as most after corprate looks have a black background. I think it would have looked better without the Tv set lines to give the video wall effect. also haven't you noticed that they start of in normal size one end and end up in wide screen the other end. other than that remove the heart of life that appear in three of the tv sets but the animation forming it is great and is still better than any tyne tees ident

I'm not taking the piss. There have been threads of this variety on here for a long time discussing logo's n stuff and I have refrained from pisstaking unlike other people who just got here and thought wtf?
but not me.
I've never been able to partake in these discussions because i dont know what other regions are doing.
I've seen different logos at the end of various programs but how the heck would i know what the tyne tees news studio looks like compared with the granada tonight one?

Yeah, I think it would be better if a three-coloured ribbon came from the left-hand-side of the screen to form the letters LWT. Just a thought!

Or how about these blinds which rotate, gradually forming an LWT logo?

Ever noticed that a question mark looks a lot like an ear...

On the other hand, there a quite a few people who returned here one day, and discovered other people talking about comedy programmes!

WTF indeed!!

Meanwhile, what about that awful YTV regional jingle?

wobba-wobba-wobba-wobba
Dah-da-da-dah-dahhhh!!

Terrible isn't it. It's far too busy round here. And not having that much of an interest in talking about comedy, scrowling down the topics list is a tad annoying...

On-Ikley-More-Bah-Tat!

WHat's wrong with that then?

(Blimey, if this works like Rob says it will, I'll be under a new name... Spooky)

Not that I doubted Rob at all of course.

BTW - why the name change? Well - tis more subtle when viewing the forum at work.
