Wowwwwwww!!! Wowwwwwww!! I've just watches YTV trigger off Calendar News at 11:25pm - what a lovely fade from the ident into the news. By, this station is pro!!!
BTW, I'm originally from the US - believe me, your regional TV is sexy if YTV is anything to go by.
Wooooosh! I've just being playing around with my TV set here in my temp flat - I can get Tyne Tees as well, another GREAT Granada station by the looks of things. Sorry about my comments before, about YTV giving them shit, it looks as poished as YTV to me! FANTASTIC! That news reader is kind of lovely as well. It's not hard to tell that YTV have and do have control over Tyne Tees - they 'look' the same.
Never let yourself get too attatched
YTV? Great?
This is the station that's buggered up Tyne Tees!!!
What planet are you on? On no account can YTV be considered 'great'. This is the worst station in the history of the universe!
OK. Before any YTV fans run for the blood pressure pills, I'll admit that it probably is a good station in its own right.
However, it's currently looking as if YTV is trying to stranglehold ITV in the north of England at least, a trend started nearly eight years ago when it took over Tyne Tees. What was done between then and autumn 1997, when Granada took over both YTV and TTTV, should have served as a warning to any ITV group wishing to centralise continuity and transmission. As is well known, YTV succeded in nearly eroding TTTV as a seperate identity, closed down the Newcastle-based continuity, and forced a Channel 3 branding on Tyne Tees when Yorkshire's own staff had rejected it.
Now YTV have recently assumed responsibility for all of Border's annoucements! I understand the thinking behind centralisation, but it also succeeds in eroding a station's identity and also gives the impression that it's not your local ITV company that you should be contacting, but the YTV studios in Leeds where everything appears to be done.
A great station YTV may be, but someone really ought to have told them that when you take over a station you leave it to its own devices, not try to run it by remote control.
>A great station YTV may be, but someone really ought to have told them that when you take over a station you leave it to its own devices, not try to run it by remote control.
But YTV aren't that stupid. They don't need telling anything - they are a business and they are only interested in money (and keeping the regulators happy which they have done). If you think they would splash out on two entirely seperate systems when it can be done cheaply at one location, then .......
Come on people!! Granada Media runs presentation, and they have centralised it to Leeds. YTV are just one aspect of the Granada Media Group monster!
