It was used for the theme for Paul Merton's Show. (Assuming we're thinking about the same ad)

Are you talking about the one that sounds like it's played on a sort of banjo-cum-ukelele-cum-small guitar sort of thing?

If so, it's called the Harry Lime Theme by Anton Karas. It was the title music to the 1949 film The Third Man, was one of the biggest hits of its time, and is played entirely on a zither.

Bet you always wanted to know that... =;-)

If it's the music from the Paul Merton show (the direct line ad) it's not Harry Lime - but it is a piece of classical music that had a pre-Merton lifespan. Any ideas what it's called? And while we're on the subject what's the name of the classical piece sampled on the breathe.com ad?
