Is Carlton your butler?

I hate Carlton. A couple of years ago, when Arsenal had just won the league AND Carlton were trying to buy shares in the club, they still insisted on broadcasting the Man Utd Champions League match in London.

That's why I hate Carlton.

I was just 7 years old when Thames lost the franchise but even I can remember how good they were compared to Carlton

If it's any consolation, Thames make a shitload more money as a production company (The Bill etc)than they ever did as a broadcaster. So everyone lives happily ever after.

actually that is quite true but they don't seem to make as much as many progs as they used to but they really should get rid of family affairs

Why does Carlton have a thing against showing old progs made by Thames, Central & TVS is it because they is jeleous-(Cant spell) that they were better

Hang on, C5 is Thames, isn't it? Bits of it are, anyway.

Well kind of, C5 is partly owned by CLT-UFA-Pearson, a group which includes Pearson. which bought Thames.

The rest is owned by UN&M and Warburg Pincus - whoever they are.

Thames was the original solo bidder for the C5 license in 1992, but the ITC rejected them, basically because the company wasn't expected to last the whole of the 10 year license. Imagine that though, Thames TV, 24/7, all over the country - take that Carlton!
