Emotional burns time. Who else has felt that gibbering moment when the announcer crashes the closing credits of a much-loved comedy show to inform/warn you of something replacing it the following week? Three examples close to my heart:
1) 12th February 1989.
The end of: Only Fools & Horses Series 6 (and at the time, it seemed to be the very end of it).
19th February 1989.
The beginning of: Wendy Craig in Laura & Disorder (where not even the title made any logical sense).
2) 7th September 1991.
The end of: On The Hour series 1 (after just five shows).
14th September 1991.
The beginning of: The return of Week Ending!!!
3) Anytime (usually Friday nights)
The end of: Anything at all, almost
To be replaced by: Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
Oh, it's on tonight! Joy! And a repeat as well - is it the one with Gail Porter on it? Hilarious.
