Fist of Fun on Radio 1

Reading Fist of Fun in Edit News, I remember hearing FoF on Radio 1 in 1996. I can't remember whether it was a repeat of a Radio 1 FoF or a Radio version of the TV show. In any case, I remember it sounded as if it had been spliced with "97-99FM Radio 1" spoken jingles which wouldn't have appeared in the Radio shows since they were (iirc) all broadcast during the 1FM era. Am I right? Can anyone shed any more light?

You're thinking of a set of not even six shows ran as a filler for a few weeks. Yes, they were compilations of very old shows with audience, but had nothing to do with L&H. In a Mark Radcliffe show around that time, Rich and Stew dismissed them as having been put together out of the blue. If memory serves, the first thing Lee knew was when someone came up to him at Reading saying "Why are you playing all that rubbish music on your show? It used to be good."
I'm sure The Corpses will add a more accurate account, but that's all I can say without fishing tapes out.

As someone has already pointed out, Stew has actually completed the story accidentally in another thread (Edinburgh pisstake)...
