Angus Deayton as the Bee Gees in last night's HIGNFY Posted Sat May 27 17:24:36 BST 2000 by Mrs Pope

Why do people always show that picture in a 'ha ha, how embarrassing' type way, when it was a brilliant parody act which was funnier than all 21 series of 'Have I Got News For You' put together?

Fucking 'producer' jokes...

The musical parodies on 'RadioActive' were useless rubbish, unlike the very clever material that surrounded them (cf. 'Out of My Depth' episode, first broadcast 1985. I remember my joy even now...)

Probably the zenith of Radio Active, that fifth series (the Nuclear Mass Debate, Wimbledon Court 19, and best of all the Did You See pisstake Did You Catch It?). I particularly revelled in the fact that RA was allotted as many as eight shows per series, not six, by this time.

You may be right about the songs, Jon - they even tried putting out a double A-side of Ponce's Purple Pants and Frankie Goes To The Bank shortly after the series had been broadcast. Very difficult to convince my friends that the rest of the show was any good, once they'd heard Purple Pants. Never mind....

Arkarkark

BTW what the hell happened to Geoffrey Perkins? (Rhetorical)
