Read the site.
No, tell us.
Or is that too much work for you?
Read the site. They've already done the work, you're just to lazy to read it.
is it *really* too much hassle to answer that question?
hmm...
1> I'm not one of the corpses as such, just the site builder.
2> Why should they answer a question (with their limited net access) which is answered in the site, just because you're too lazy to read it properly?
Of course, you're really trying to suggest is that they don't like any modern comedy which is simply not true... you can believe what you like, it doesn't change the reality though.
These people are like those who just look at the final score for album reviews, rather than read the review itself.
73%
simple questions, simple answers.
yep, more than likely to simple people, but that is beside the point...
is it *really really* that much bother for them, either through you Rob, or whenever they get access, to just note it down?
hmm...
if i was aiming to be bitchy, i could say that with regard to the comedy, it's probably pretty mono-comedianic... by that... well, i hope you grasp the candle on that one....
anyway, the question remains an unanswered one...
but, in the end, it doesn't matter anyway, so lets all go off and get drunk... mine's a drambuie...
>anyway, the question remains an unanswered one...
Er, no it isn't - the answer is all over the site.
>2> Why should they answer a question (with their limited net access) which is answered in the site, just because you're too lazy to read it properly?
Firstly, I'm neither too lazy or too stupid to read the site and believe it or not I already had, or at least the bits that caught my interest. Sorry if I haven't slavishly devoured every syllable - I do have a life to get on with as well.

Secondly, I never said the site was 100% negative. Yes there are a lot of positive comments, some of which are about people who it is currently possible to see either live or on TV. I think Rob is reading too much into what is, after all, a simple question. However, lets look at one of those comments. "The Nualas.....One of the few amusing corpses left." Doesn't this suggest that the authors of this site don't feel that there's much left to be positive about ?
When you read the site you do come away with an overall sense of negativity. Don't get me wrong, it's OK to be negative. Some of your views I agree with, some I don't. What the hell. I do agree that an awful lot of what's about at the moment is pretty worthless and that's why I asked you to name current artists. Who do you like that I can see 'now '?
I suppose I paid you the compliment of suggesting that your views on the comedy world may be of value to me. Sorry - won't do it again.
Let me repeat, I'm not a corpse author. I'm not answering on their behalf - this is just my opinion.
>Firstly, I'm neither too lazy or too stupid to read the site and believe it or not I already had, or at least the bits that caught my interest. Sorry if I haven't slavishly devoured every syllable - I do have a life to get on with as well.
You don't have to. It's fairly obvious just by looking at the amount of detail on various pages...

Yes, but only if that's the only part of the site you read. If you put it back into context you would probably have a different view.

Lots... I would particularly recommend "Baddiel & Skinner - Unplanned", which is about to start a three week run on ITV (this Sunday, running through out the week). If it's anything like the practice run thru I saw on Sunday, it'll be great.
>I suppose I paid you the compliment of suggesting that your views on the comedy world may be of value to me. Sorry - won't do it again.
And comments like that, combined with the behaviour of certain others in this thread, only serves to confirm my opinion that this thread isn't so much about the question being asked, but an attempt to 'get at' the corpses in some stupid way...
Dear Sorell,
I'm working from memory rather than detailed analysis, but it seems clear enough to me that the currently active comedy acts that the Corpses like are:
Chris Morris (and cohorts), League Against Tedium, Lee&Herring, Punt&Dennis, The Nualas, Sally Phillips, Doon Mackikan(or whatever)... and a warm hug of affection for dear old Uncle Ben Elton, in spite of his foibles.
That clear enough?

On the contrary, comments like that are a response to being told that I am lazy. I have no desire to "get at" the corpses. I don't even know who they are so why would I want to get at them ? Maybe I was a bit quick to be sarky, but I suggest that you are a bit quick to be paranoid.
That apart, I appreciate the recommendation. Thanks.

Dear Jon,
Thankyou.
Sorrel
>On the contrary, comments like that are a response to being told that I am lazy.
Well, I have to say I still think you were being a bit lazy, as it is fairly obvious to me (and others) what modern comedy the authors like.

Fair enough :)

No problem....!
Edit News, Archive Review and Hidden Archive all concern themselves with stuff we like. All the negative stuff is in Comment, and tends to get blown out of proportion.
A basic list of good contemporary stuff: Morris, Munnery, Baddiel, Nualas, Sadowitz, Goodness Gracious Me, Peter Kay, Frank Skinner, Kevin Eldon, Lee & Herring, Morwenna Banks, etc etc etc. The problem is that, with most acts, how good they are is never unconditionally cut and dried. They're all prone to fuck up.
However, the best comedy person on the circuit at the moment is Neil Innes.
And again...Thankyou.
>. The problem is that, with most acts, how good they are is never unconditionally cut and dried. They're all prone to fuck up.

How true.
>However, the best comedy person on the circuit at the moment is Neil Innes.
I've never seen Neil Innes live, although I know of the music and his input into Puddle Lane and The Tiddlers. Can I ask why you think he's the best? I haven't looked for him on the site yet. I'll go and do that now.
It's OK- I think I've found most of the relevant bits now. (Although, surprisingly, Puddle Lane doesn't get a mention in his solo work - unless I missed a bit)
I remember seeing 'The Innes Book of Records' when I was about 8 or 9, and thinking it was the most pointless show ever.
The point of IBoR was simply to show that Neil Innes exists.
Which is good enough reason for a repeat run, as far as we're concerned.
a0d believes that surly there must be an element of futility in work that gets in the away of oppinions.
the phrase 'toss clock' fules the rockets.
