Classical Brits

Yeah, I know, I know....what did I expect, but I wondered how they'd get around the fact that only Charlotte Church really sold any records last year and you can't give awards to Various Artists really (like to see them try though). I think the game's up for Vanessa-Mae though - no matter how tight and sparkly the dress, all those photo opportunities have left sod all time left for practising (she couldn't even play in time last night).
Bit that nearly made me spill tea, though - Trevor McDonald's introduction: "The next award will be presented by a man who certainly has the catering staff here quaking in their boots - yes, it's film director, bon viveur [and complete prick*] Michael Winner." Hmmm - definitely worth celebrating - a man who shouts at badly-paid waiting staff in restaurants. Yet the twatted audience, rather than hurling their bottles of champagne, actually applauded!!!
Did anyone else bother watching this deeply cynical attempt to get the proles to watch classical music on the telly? You're more sensible than I.
*I wish.

Classical Brits? Just the same as the normal Brits - rewarding those artists already amply rewarded financially. Charlotte Church and Vanessa Mae are the Mick Hucknall and Annie Lennox of the Festival Hall set, non?
