I never saw it, but I'm quite certain it was rubbish. Despite Kevin Eldon, who is a God.
Um, second series resembled (very much) 11oCS but without all the swearing.
Though the pady who did the popster's histories was generally amusing.
Dennis Pennis was funny once or twice (literally once or twice!)
Kevin Eldon's mad horrorscope character was great from what I can vaugely remember
The first series was alright I think, yeah, and it did get worse as it got more "yoof" and lost the thread.. one example being the unfunny Gallagher characters
I was fairly young at the time though, too!
>Kevin Eldon's mad horrorscope character was great from what I can vaugely remember
Yes I agree. Kevin Eldon being really, really scary on BBC 2 on Sunday mornings seems to be something of an institution.
Phil Kay presented a couple of them with Donna Mcphale and they were quite good. Nobody in the audience laughed at anything on that show (like the Word in that respect) except Dennis Pennis but I would still defend it against accusations of being like the 11 OCS.
Peter Kay used to do that entertainment bit on it which I'm told is far better live. No one laughed at that either.
>one example being the unfunny Gallagher characters
It was that Paul bloke who took over from Katie Pukrik who ruined it all. He was terrible. It was all about Lesbianism and stuff before he came along and then it was about Lager and Football. The only thing I would compare it to is the Big Breakfast when it was presented by Rik Adams and Sharon Davies!
Yeah it was vay amusing when Donna and Katie presented it. That Jenny bitch who came along was vile, and the only impression she seemed to be able to do was Tina Turner. Kev Eldon was fab as the Gay Bandolier, he should win a BAFTA for 'Most Sinister Sunday Morning Bloke Ever'

Why did I fail to tape most of the second series of TMWRNJ? Whyyyyy??? And boil my trotters and soak them in lard if I wasn't the angriest pig in all the land when they cancelled one repeat show to put on tennis! I almost phoned up the BBC duty office to complain but I didn't know thier number and eventually calmed down and didn't follow it up. Which reminds me, us comedy fans should complain a little more to counterbalance the Mary Whitehouse brigade - after all it worked for Brass Eye and the ITC.
I'm straying entirely from the topic, so..
>Phil Kay presented a couple of them with Donna Mcphale and they were quite good.
Yes! I remember now, when he made his guest appearances they seemed to outshine the regular episodes. It should have been him that took over, not Paul "Now I work with Donna Air" Tonkinson.
Oh, and am I right in thinking that it suffered from Ali G Syndrome in that once people started tuning in for Dennis Pennis he'd only be in it every few shows?
we'll have no disrespecting Dennis Pennis in here.
Why not?
the man was a complete and utter tit.
the guys a god.
thats all there is to it.
period.
i'll admit the guys a tit... but why should that be a bad thing??
that would go againsed what he does... he's a comic character!!
and any way subbes, my lovely, your'e not one to talk...
(heh, good choise of words)
*ahem* best behavyeor....
