Anybody heard anything about the new sitcom from the Ab-Fab people? It's called Mirrorball and is going to star J Saunders, J Sawahla et al.

Let's hope Saunders writes some jokes this time - noticeably absent from AbFab series 2 onwards, and Let Them Eat Cake (which I know she didn't actually write, but it was still awful).

Oh, come on, it was *far* worse than that!

re:'Let Them Eat Cake'

Everyone should go down in a sinking ship. It's only fitting. And it pains me to say that of Alison Steadman.

I went to see the pilot.
And (though I may be a bit biased now) I thought it was very funny. Possibly a bit "in" - about show biz etc, but not in a way that seemed to bother the audience.
It's hard to judge it properly in the stop/start/stop/wait half an hour/see the same scene 4 times atmosphere of a TV studio, but there were some brillaint sight gags and bits of slapstick (better than getting stuck on the baggage carousel in AF) and some incredibly funny jokes - look out for what happens to Bonnie Langford at the audition - class.
The characters (especially Saunders and Lumley) aren't a million miles away from AF. But I thought the performances were more realistic (one of the things that jarred for me about Abfab was the oTT acting of the leads) and I would say that it is an improvement on even the first series.
I'm looking forward to the series

Cheers Rich, sounds good.
Let's hope they don't run it into the ground like they did with AF.
