Reeves and Mortimer - the Early Years
Posted Sun May 14 17:46:09 BST 2000 by Jon
Years ago I heard a Radio 4 documentary about Malcolm Hardee reminiscing about his time running the Tunnel Club in Greenwich. He mentioned that they had Vic Reeves playing there when he was a young unknown, but that a petition was got up by the regular audience to never have him booked again. 'I dunno if he was too avant-garde or something...' wondered Hardee, clearly not impressed either way.
Can anyone confirm this story? If so, perhaps The Corpses should mention it amongst their R&M tribute at the start of the anti-Boosh article, out of fairness to The Boosh.

it's true - though it happened in somewhere like Bracknell, not in London. Read bruce Dessau's biography - they talk about it in there.

No, Hardee was definitely talking about the Tunnel Club. Probably Dessau is wrong.
