Club X: BuyGones

In the new section on the demise of 11OCS you say it's the worst C4 show ever and won't even be remembered for the kitsch value of 'Club X'. That reminded me that I only ever watched Club X (apart from the first encounter) for Victor Lewis-Smith's brilliant 'BuyGones' section, in exactly the same way that I only ever watched 11OCS (apart from the first encounter) for the Ali G bit. Like everyone else.
For the benefit of younger/ignorant readers: 'BuyGones' was a filmed insert, which would take the piss out of rubbish consumer goods from yesteryear, with a very funny VLS voiceover explaining how rubbish they were.
'BuyGones' must have had occasional legal worries, so can it have a spot in edit News? Anyway, it should be commemorated as a great idea dying alone (but not unloved) in the wastelands of 80s youth TV.

'Buygones' was censured once for a sketch portraying Eric Morecambe as a dancing skeleton. We don't have the evidence on video, sadly.
Also, VLS and Paul Sparkes were the first guests in the first ever episode of 'Clive Anderson Talks Back' - back in the days when Clive would interview people because they were funny and good, rather than because they were big Hollywood stars. They were promoting the 'Buygones' book, which we heartily recommend.
VLS did another strand in 'Club X' called 'Up Your Arts'. Also very good.
