Media terrorist Noel Edmonds Posted Sat May 6 16:25:44 BST 2000 by Jon

Doesn't anyone else remember that it was actually radical situationist prankster Noel Edmonds who first had the idea of filming himself asking passersby stupid questions in the street, on 'The Late Late Breakfast Show' in 1983? I definitely remember him interviewing someone whilst holding a fish instead of a microphone, stuff like that. And this was long before Victor Lewis-Smith, never mind Chris Morris or 11OCS

Yeah, and winding up celebrities until they lose their professional nice-guy rags on camera. Of course, according to the Brass Eye thread, he didn't react well to a dose of his own medicine...

Which was of course the whole point of the stunt. Apparently his reaction to it read something like: "This was disgraceful. Why - only last week I flew to a children's hospital in my helicopter". (Are we supposed to change our opinion about him from that - hadn't they suffered enough already?)

Brass Eye - was that the one when they pretended to be a C4 News bulleting and claimed Noel had murdered Clive Anderson and was parading around with an Uzi on his back? That was funny, though I didn't catch on for a while, I was only little!

Indeed it was (only three years ago though) -hope most of show 6 (from which it was from) survives intact. It's the one episode that I haven't got!

Yeah, that newsflash was so good, I was convinced Clive Anderson was dead until Noel's name was mentioned and even then because I was going along with it (it being so well done and detailed like the rest of the series - the right news set, the "News Report" caption 'accidentally' fading up and down and back up again) it took a few seconds for what was really happening to sink in.
