A lot of Ealing comedies (Ladykillers, Lavender Hill Mob and so on), a couple of Carry Ons are alright (Cleo and Screaming), Bedazzled, certainly Holy Grail and Life Of Brian. Others too - I'm too sleepy to tax my brain too much right now. But....and I think this is your point, Miffy - you were thinking of anything recent.

I disagree with the insinuation that all films based on a British TV show are rubbish, most of them, yes, but not all of them. The two Steptoe films, The Likely Lads and Porridge films (The Prison Officers club/celebrity football match) are piss funny. I laughed at all of those more than Kingpin or There's Something about Mary. Saying that, Kevin & Perry Go Large is still shite!

Yes, but then the Farrelly Brothers are not hard to beat. Basically, There's Something About Mary has about four funny things in it (at least one involving Jonathan Richman), but a hell of a lot of padding in between them. In fact, it's precisely these sort of films which have influenced dreck like Kevin & Perry - Guardian interview with Enfield last week said that they had to add more puke/fart/shit jokes "for the American audience". Just shows you how much he appears to respect his audience (on both sides of the pond) these days.
